Shock News: seemingly balanced report on RDR Books case?
Because it doesn't really warrant a full f_w post, but I thought y'all might be interested...

For those craving a little more information on how JKR vs RDR is being portrayed in the media, Australian newspaper the Sydney Morning Herald has a report online that contains (along with a pretty hilarious pic of Rowling) a seemingly f_w authored take on the whole shenanigans.

JK Rowling takes fan to court

So come on, 'fess up - which one of you works for the SMH?

In court last week, Hammer said Rowling's lawyers did not want Vander Ark in the courtroom while Rowling testifies.

Is that new, or did I miss this in the last Lexicon post? In any case, that picture needs to be macro'd five minutes ago.

Yeah, I've collected a few bits that I'm going to post in the morning, and I'll update that post throughout the day as necessary. Although I don't know that we'll hear much, if anything, until court's out for the day.

(The other article I saw was J.K. Rowling to testify against fan.)

[info]dqbunny called me from work to tell me that. I loled so hard and even forgave her for interrupting the end of Return of the Jedi because dayum. She could not have said "you're kinda creepy" any better.

Re-posted cause I'm good with the grammar thing.

There is a similar (the same?) article on the Wii News Channel.

He said the author felt so personally violated that she made her own comparisons between her seven best-selling novels and the lexicon and was ready to testify about the similarities in dozens of instances.

That doesn't sound like you're friends, Stevie, more like she thinks you're a skank.

I can see that pic getting macro'd so bad.

And, I can't be the only one who doubletakes everytime I see Judge Robert Patterson and think Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory).

In his court statement, Vander Ark still sounds like a fan, saying the lexicon "enhances the pleasure of readers of the Potter novels, and deepens their appreciation of Ms Rowling's achievement."

Is it just me, or does saying it that way sound kind of... sexual, in a very "ew" way?

She also says it fails to include any of the commentary and discussion that enrich the website

I really want a direct quote on this. Not because I don't believe it, but to shove in the faces of people who claim that JKR doesn't tolerate commentary on her books and that's why she's suing RDR.
