Oh, help
So, I have a new obsession. *points to icon*

As I tend to do when I latch on to a new obsession, I've been checking out his other work (you should see my Robson Green collection!), and so, on the strength of recommendations from various places, I watched the 1998 version of "Vanity Fair" this afternoon rather than work on the 20-page paper that's due Friday.

And now I'm desperate for some Amelia/Dobbin fic. *headdesk* Anyone got any recs? I've already tried ff.net and yuletide, with no luck.

Have you seen Calendar Girls yet? Because that's a great movie :D

"Don't touch the buns!"

I have, yes! It was the source of my So-THAT'S-where-I've-seen-him-before moment. :-)

It was such a 'holy crap, Gene Hunt's being nice and shy! What?' moment!

He was delicious in that.

Actually the whole film was delicious.

It was a delightful film. I first saw it because I was in the throes of a Helen Mirren obsession, and it's still a personal favorite.

Ah, I first saw "Calendar Girls" long before Gene Hunt crossed my radar (possibly even before "Life on Mars" first aired) so it didn't have that effect on me. "Vanity Fair," otoh, was a revelation.

No Vanity Fair fic recs, but if you're obsessed and you haven't already got it then you should try to find Clocking Off. He was Mack the factory owner and I know they did several series and he's definitely in the first and I think the second. Bonus is that it's got an incredibly good cult tv cast - Christopher Ecclestone, John Simm (which made me LOL when I saw the relevant episode) and Ashley Jensen.

Yeah, "Clocking Off" is on the list, along with "State of Play" and "Island at War."

Totally agree! It's like a who's who, looking back. I loved Glenister even then.

He's got quite the following. :-) (I've been preaching the Gospel according to Gene to everyone I know)

Not to give gratuitous advice, but srsly, if you want Amelia/Dobbin fic and there is none, then don't you think you've perhaps found a gap? I believe in writing what you want to read...

Oh, I know, and I am very, very tempted. I've got some other projects - aforementioned paper, thesis prospectus, and various fandom projects - to get through first, though. I was just hoping there'd be something out there to tide me over until then.
