Via Cartoon Brew: the revival of a site called The Journal of Cartoon Over-analyzations

Some of the topics covered include Sexual Ambiguity in The Brave Little Toaster, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors as a Star Wars Knock-off, and My Little Pony is a lesbian-feminist separatist colony.

That should be "My Little Lesbian-Feminist Separatist Colony," thanks.

Heh. I annoyed somebody in chat one day by overanalyzing BatB(disney version) but I was far more straight-laced. XD

*hugs* We can still talk about it? I am trying vainly to learn more about superhero fandom.

::reading the 10 Most Child-Warping Moments of 80s cartoons:: Funny, that Care Bears movie was the biggest obsession of my childhood years (I admit it now, I crushed on the villain and the main human character), and I don't remember screaming at my dead grandfathers' caskets.

Dark Heart in his human shape was totally hot, and even though she was an idiot for most of the movie, I had it bad for Christy too.

You mean MLP isn't about a Lesbian seperatist commune? Way to destroy my childhood!

I think my childhood would have been a lot more fun if I had been aware of the lesbian-feminist-separatist angle. Because man, did I have a lot of ponies.

My Barbies lived in a lesbian-separatist colony because I had about twenty (knock-off) Barbies and only three Kens. This also resulted in all the men in the lesbian-separatist colony being crossdressers because unlike the kens, the barbies usually came with an extra change of clothes.

There was one Ken in particular, who always wore a pink frilly dress (his own clothes having disintegrated long ago), and was married to a very butch-looking (read: I had cut her hair) barbie called 'George'.

My Barbies weren't lesbians, but they were feminists. They were the counselors at a summer camp where all the boys trying to be mean to the girls got in trouble. They also went on expeditions to the Antarctic, necessitating wearing many layers of clothes. Alas, we had no Kens, but I'm sure any boys would have been idiots. (Don't even get me started on the Beanie Baby wars we organized...)

That reminds me of my butch/femme Jem dolls. I only had one Rio and I used to spin him by the hands so much that they came off (I used to tell people that he lost them in "the War"...I was a fucked up child). I decided that in light of Rio's maiming, Jem needed a new boyfriend. I had an extra Roxy that I'd gotten for Christmas, so I cut off all her hair and stuck her in Rio's clothes, so that she was Jem's new boyfriend.

I had no idea why my born again Christian mother was so horrified. It made perfect sense to my 7 year old brain.

Chalk this one under "signs your little girl might be queer as a three dollar bill".

My Barbies were unfailingly lesbian. Then I got about three Kens. They were all gay. Any story with a straight couple ended in tragedy.

And I wasn't even aware of what gay was at the time. I was a sheltered child.

This may explain my love of opera, which usually ends in tragedy, for someone, anyway.

I am unimpressed. This is how you do endless cartoon over-analysis. It's not how you do good HTML, but it's how you do endless analysis.
