Book blog recs?
I used to read the GAFF forums for one reason only - the book section. Then everything went down, then it went up again, then I lost track and who the hell knows now.

I've been really interested in finding another source of bad book reviews, good book reviews, anything ever since. This goes double for stuff on comics. I've found a few good ones - Smart Bitches, Trashy Books is wonderful, even if I don't read romance - but I'm still searching. I'll read about any genre, I'm just highly interested in the opinion itself.

Any suggestions?

GAFF's is still there. It's just called "Godawful Prose and Literature" now, last time I checked (wow, I haven't logged in there in over a month...).

Ah, but does it work properly now? I haven't checked in forever.

I haven't got the link handy, but a google search for PODdy mouth should bring it up. Reviews Print on Demand books.

If you're interested in newspaper comics (which I assume wasn't the format you were looking for, but just in case), The Comics Curmudgeon is a pretty fun place. It used to be "I Read the Comics So You Don't Have To," which pretty much sums up what he does.

The Dairi Burger reviews '80s/'90s kids' books, mostly the Sweet Valley series, and it is hella funny. bookshelves of doom covers current YA and other books.

Mrs. Giggles posts romance reviews (hardcover and e-books, het and gay) - her bad reviews are usually pretty hilarious: http://www.mrsgiggles.com

I love goodreads.com, wherein everyone from BNFs to greatgramma-n00bs post their thoughts on yaoi books. Huge selection, and some great gems of snark hidden amongst the useful reviews.

It's still small, but I read three or four books a week, and I recently started posting reviews of the SF and fantasy at my JournalFen blog, findchaem.

Fortunately for me, but unfortunately for lovers of snark, my current stack is full of highly-recommended books that have turned out to be pretty good.
