Tony Banks is "superbillig"
Ever wonder what would happen if Tony Banks (of Genesis) were interviewed by the German press, and the interview was translated from English to German and then back to English possibly with the use of Babel Fish?
Well, thanks to Moribund the Burgermeister over on the official Genesis Forums, you won't have to wonder any longer.
This is possibly the funniest thing I've ever read in my entire life. Some highlights:
Professionally of course. I remember his damned Drumbox "Man On The Corner", a very beautiful, but really complicated rhythmic song. Phil did so at the beginning of this small drum machine running, there was then Czechoslovakia Offbeat such a dip-Czechoslovakia and then dip: Zidipp! Zidipp! I had always a-rhythmically at the first Zidipp, but often times continued for the second Zidipp. Phil looked to me like being a dog who does not understand. With his funny face.
Later the song changes his rhythm again, again because of the damned Drumbox, this playful usually Mike (Rutherford) on the guitar. Splaaaaaash! A beautiful, and even simple-sounding song - but in truth we have on stage to death counted! Three, four, three, four, Zidipp! Fuck! Wrong! And so on. Poor Phil small But with the a-synchronous Drumbox, in which he has been "In The Air Tonight" in love, this was his idea was not ours.
Aaah, I remember the '81 tour, because we have played. Phil stood as a pillar and lärmte 'rum. I like the song is still very much. All hated him. The people have the ears zugehalten. They have thought, we want them as hostages.
And of course:
I am superbillig, my dear, I do not because of money.
And it's even better if you can imagine it in Tony's voice!
