Someone spotted a blurb that an US version of the Death Note movie is being penned. So far no one is wanking that much over the news and they are mostly talking about Zac Efron at the moment.

I was wondering when this was going to happen. With all the J-horror remakes and upcoming Western live-action anime adaptations, it was inevitable.

Err.. because it is SO good to begin with. I should know, I sat through both this weekend. Hilariously silly, but in need of a remake? I don't think so.

Although with a bigger budget the CGI might look better.

Okay, I know this has been a rumor for years now, but every single time I hear it I WISH FERVENTLY for it to be true. (The movie, not Zac Efron as Light.) (Although those pictorial comparisons are starting to reach new heights in creepy.)

I can...kind of see it. Maybe it's just me hoping for lulz, but if the movie doesn't go into production for 1-2 years, maybe Efron will be burned out by the whole High School Musical thing and he'll want to take on Light (or Louis or Larry or whatever his "American" name will be) as his first "serious" role.

I watched a really badly dubbed version of the movie before going for the manga. It just won't be the same without the media panic over 'spates of heart paralyze!'

Or L asking Light to 'use his clever brain to catch Kira', for that matter.

...I may be a terrible person, but this actually makes me sort of happy. After watching just the teensy bits of the Death Note movie I've been able to, I actually wanted a new version pretty badly.
