video game n00b requests aid.
So I recently found out that I'm going to be very sick for a very long time before it starts to get better, which involves long stretches of time in which I can't really get out or be active. Since the Internet can, actually, get dull after awhile, I did what any reasonable person would do - I bought a video game console =D More specifically, a DS.

Yes, this is another game rec thread. But it's got one stipulation: I'm really bad at video games. I haven't played since the original Nintendo, and too many controls and buttons make me a sad panda. In spite of that, I really like games with complex stories and lots of characters and overarching plots, so I guess I was wondering if there are games like that for the beginner/low skill level set. I'd hate to drop all this money and immediately get frustrated because I'm attempting to play above my skill level.

So far, I have a Nintendog, because... well, I love puppies ;D What else should I look in to?

Phoenix Wright games are very intuitive and contain a helpful tutorial section, lots of characters, and extremely complicated plots. All around good stuff, and generally pretty cheap!

Oh man, I've heard so much about Phoenix Wright and I was hoping it was along the lines I'd laid out. Yayeee! I'll totally give the first game a try.

Make sure you get the games in order! It's not completely required but each successive game makes references to the previous ones.

Definitely getting onto the Phoenix Wright fan-boat. The games are awesome - really funny dialog and characters, and the puzzles are a lot of fun to figure out.
