So Roger Zelazny, the author of the Chronicles of Amber series, died without changing his will, and the rights to his work passed to his ex-wife, who authorized a prequel trilogy. No one would do it until they finally asked John Betancourt, who is on record as saying he agreed to it so that they didn't get somebody worse. The Amber prequels are fucking terrible.
