Oh, the wank would have been GLORIOUS
Russell T. Davies wanted to have J.K. Rowling guest-star on an episode of Doctor Who as herself and have the Doctor get pulled into the world of Harry Potter.

BAM! I thought, don't ask J.K. to write a Doctor Who, ask her to be in a Doctor Who! We've done Dickens, Shakespeare, Agatha Christie...why should kids think that all great authors are dead? Imagine it. A cold Edinburgh Christmas Eve. J.K.Rowling walking through the snow, pursued by a journalist. “What are you going to write after Harry Potter?”

The diffcult second album...Later, J.K. sits down to write. At the same time, a Space Bug (maybe the same as Donna's time-psych creature in 4.11), probably put there by the Rita Skeeter-type journalist, leaps onto her back. ZAP!

J.K.'s imagination becomes real! A world of Victorian magic replaces the present-day world. The Doctor arrives and has to battle through a world of witches and wizards, with wands and spells and CGI wonders, to reach J.K. Rowling at the heart of it all... That's either brilliant or more like a Blue Peter crossover.

...Imagine those opening titles: DAVID TENNANT flying at you, then J.K.ROWLING!...Imagine the Doctor in a world of magic made real - that would be glorious. So, there we go. That's under way.

Heh.

Y'know that whole thing in Ghostbusters about "don't cross the streams"?

I'm really not sure what to make of that.

I think it's crossing the wank streams.

Reading the comments, I kinda have to agree that as a full episode, it wouldn't work, but as a Children in Need special it would.

Also; The Doctor as the reason for Time Turners. Think about this. Just... think about this. The hilarity. Also; David Tennant facepalming at himself is always good for a laugh.

Totally agree. It's a bit too... gratuitous for an entire episode. But for a cute short, it could work.

I do wonder how long it'll be until someone fics it, though.

This. I effing love fanfic, I love fandom, but I really don't like what happens when it's given money and studio backing.

Sweet Buddha and Tyche too, thank Tinkerbell Jesus Rusty was told "NO!!!!!!!"

Now, if we can just get those rumours about Neil Gaiman writing a DW script during Moffatt's tenure to come true...

Reposting for typing precoffee:

The resulting wank would be utterly apocalyptic.

No, the only way it could turn into the apocalypse would be if it included Twilight as well.

Yes. They had it happen at completely the wrong time of year, but they did give sort of a strange explanation. Vicars, giant wasps, jewel thieves, and alien necklaces. Also Fenella Woolgar and David Tennant in a vintage car chase, which almost made it worthwhile.

While I liked the premise of, "why do we always throw in dead authors? Why not a living one?" coupled with the fact that Ten is obviously a Harry Potter fan (he CRIED during Book 7? Seriously? What?), that overall idea is just... do not want, thank you! Maybe something happening to INSPIRE something WITHIN the books, but bringing them to life? No. Plus, who's to say Rowling can act? The reason they use dead authors is to that you can get wonderful people like Simon Cowell to play Charles Dickens!

But the wank would have been AWESOME.

I would have loved to see that.

Firstly, because there's a chance that it would've been good.

Secondly, because Who fandom would've exploded with the force of a thousand Krakatoas, and for that I'll happily sacrifice one episode from a series.
