CNN weighs in on Anne Rice's new novel.
Article here.

If this belongs elsewhere/my personal journal, I'll gladly move it. But I thought this was too special not to share.

I mean, I've made vampires believable to grown women. Now, if I can do that, I can make our Lord Jesus Christ believable to people who've never believed in him

But there are already so many people who believe in Jesus Christ. Writing about the Easter bunny in a way that makes it believable to grown ups, that would be a challenge more appropriate to a gifted vampire writer.

Why do people not believe in the Easter Bunny. There were always eggs to hunt at my house when I was a kid. Pfft.

We did not hunt eggs, we hunted baskets of candy. I fear there may have been something amiss at my house.

Actually we still do if we're home around Easter...

I saw the Easter bunny once. He's brown and fuzzy, just like Jesus!

All right, how long before we get the first 'I am married to Jesus on the astral plane!' wank?

My little tangent:

One time I was a substitute teacher's aide in a first grade class. One of the kids said, in class, that he didn't believe in God. Some of the students reacted badly and the teacher said it was his business.

I saw him later waiting to be picked up from school, and a little girl asked him "You do believe in Santa Claus though, don't you?" And he assured her that he did.

Christopher Buckley has been getting exponentially more awesome ever since he endorsed Obama, I think.

Her stories often are reveries with no end in sight -- and all too often ugly with pedantic unwinding, numbing in detail and overly simplistic, a pastiche of cliches.

My my, what a neat way to put everything I hate about her work.

Now that you've described the blouse like that, I can't unsee the vision I just had of Dolores Umbridge wearing it.
