For the SMT fans...
I don't know if any of the Shin Megami Tensei fans on JF were already aware of this, but I didn't see any entries pointing this out, so I figured I'd post about it, in case any missed it and might be interested.

Anyway, getting to the point: Aeria Games opened up signups for the SMT: Imagine Online closed beta sometime last week, with the projected start of the beta being around the start of December (at least, I think that's the date I read on the forums).

Signup is easy - you just need to either have/make an Aeria Games account, then go to the Megaten site and answer three questions (if you've played SMT games, if you're new to Aeria, and if you're going to invite friends - nothing spectacular) to sign up.

Before you do that, though, you might want to check the system requirements, of course. (Note: According to the forums, there apparently is at least one mistake in Aeria's translation of the sysreqs. You might want to check the post I linked to, as it has more info, including a link to the Japanese Imagine's site with the original list of requirements - most names of the required hardware are in English, but you still need to know a little Japanese to be fully able to read the thing, of course.)

Anyway, that's the gist of it. If anyone's trying to get in, good luck! :)

Heheh... admittedly, I'm a complete n00b to both Megaten (I've only played a little of Persona 3, and due to not having as much free time as I used to, am way WAY off from completing it, but what I've played of it, I still did like a great deal.) and MMOs (never really saw one that got my attention before this), and I'm still a bit iffy if my graphics chip (I have a laptop) would be able to handle things (Supposedly, it can handle WoW and its current expansion, so maybe things will be fine, but if there's any issues... hopefully if I put the settings at their lowest? *prays*), but I'm still hoping I get a shot at trying it out! *crosses fingers*

Already roped in a longtime friend (Who does play MMOs, so with him I shouldn't feel as lost, eh? XD) into signing up, too! :D Problem is, though, that maybe our play time will be limited since we've got about a 4-hour time zone difference, but I'm sure we can somehow work something out. ^_^;;

Also, OT but I wanted to say that, every time I see your username in entries here on JF, I keep wanting to read it as "Vergil's Panda." Dunno if that's happened to anyon else and they've pointed it out already, but... LOL. XD

You should really dig deeper into the series, especially since Atlus recently reprinted Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne (BEST GAME EVER) and Digital Devil Saga 1 (SECOND BEST GAME EVER) :D But all the Megaten games are awesome.

Somebody said that to me already. I find it funny, and now I see Vergil in a big panda suit. Chasing Dante, of course, because this is certainly his fault, somehow. It always is.

I've already started working on that! It'll be a while before I get to play them (Due to both the aforementioned free time issue and that the AC in my room's busted, so right now it's just too stuffy to play with my PS2. At least I keep my laptop and the router in the living room, so if I get into this closed beta, I won't be sweating like crazy while playing. :P), but I already tracked down copies of Nocturne and DDS 1 & 2, as well as Devil Summoner. So at least the hard part of finding the darn things is done with, at least! :D

I'm also looking forward to Persona 4, even though like the others, it might have to wait a while (not having a working AC drives me nuts, I tell ya). I'm still getting psyched for its release by listening to the soundtrack, tho'. XD (Have you listened to it, by any chance? It's pretty good, I should say. I think "Reach Out To The Truth" is like, obscenely catchy. XD)

I haven't played the DMC series (though I have seen Vergil and Dante's designs before, and a friend of mine recced it to me, so I might have to play it sometime), but the idea of a grown man in a panda suit is a RIOT. XD (Personally, I was thiking of a young!Vergil with a stuffed panda, but your idea's better. XD)

*butts in on conversation*

I'm 87 hours into P4 and I still love "Reach Out to the Truth". It is truly the catchiest battle music ever.

Also, the combination of MegaTen content and Suikoden icon has officially made you Full of Win. Viki~

Ah, so you're playing an import version of the game? Lucky! :D I just have the soundtrack to tide me over (Though I'm certainly not complaining!). Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the game. :)

And hee, I adore Viki! She's just so spacey and cute and slightly mysterious in a goofy way. Also, I don't think I've ever been declared "Full of Win" before, so thanks! XD

P4 soundtrack has been on a constant loop in my iTunes for...a while. It's just so good. Shoji Meguro's soundtracks are so not the normal RPG stuff, and it makes me giddy inside when I listen to them.

Yeah, I've been alternating between it and the three P3 soundtracks with the two soundtracks for The World Ends With You (which is another game in my hugeass backlog I MUST play eventually - I picked them up because a friend recced them to me, and I needed to pad my P4 soundtrack order with something, and man, did they NOT dissapoint! :D) for a good while now, and it's all like... ahh, delicious muzaks... ♥

In fact, when I listen to the P3 and P4 stuff back-to-back, I keep thinking... and I'm probably going to be called "blasphemer!" for this, but... I keep thinking that, as much as I love the P3 soundtracks, the P4 soundtrack is probably a bit better overall. It strikes me as having less "filler" tracks, at least (or maybe the filler is just more entertaining this time around).

I think I still like the ending song from P3 better, though... maybe if I listen to it a few more times... XD

(Oh! And that "The Genesis" track in the second disc is badass, in how it all starts slow and kinda menacing and slowly builds up until it breaks into that whole orchestra version of "Reach Out To The Truth!" I just wish that last part was a bit longer, it's damn sweet to listen to.)

Aaaaah, December can't come soon enough! ♥

There are a certain handful of P3 songs that I think are amazing, but there are a lot that, while they serve their purpose in the game, I'm not as jazzed to listen to out of the game, so if anyone's calling you a blasphemer for this, it won't be me. XD I think the atmosphere they were going for with the P4 soundtrack is a little better suited for listening on its own than the P3.

I think at least once a day either me or my other Megaten-loving roommate says something about how much it needs to be December. And then one of our other roomies is contemplating buying her own copy and hiding in the other room with it, because between the two of us hogging my copy, God only knows when she'll get to play it.

Hmm. I love Megaten but hate MMO's, so I am torn on this. Well, and also my computer's a piece of crap and may crash if I try to run this on it, but... Megaten!

Heheh, I've never had any interest in MMOs before (not even for FFXI, and I do usually enjoy the FF series, admittedly), to be honest, and decided to pop my MMO cherry by giving this a shot. If it's not great, at least it was free, so it's no real loss (other than time, and I already sink plenty of that into games and online, so whatever, heh...).

Apparently, from what I've read in the forums, the game's also entirely PvE (at least, as far as it's gotten in the Japanese version, it's that way), and not PvP, which I can appreciate - I'd rather not have jerks ganging up on MMO-n00b me for my first experience with this type of game (at least, not until I've learned my way around and stuff).

So, that's a thing to consider, if you get to upgrade/replace your computer sometime soon and are still debating on whether to check out the game? :)
