Just when you thought it was safe with the 'The Graysons' being cancelled, another potential comic book trainwreck has emerged just to screw with us all. Right now DC is seriously talking about making a Wonder Woman movie, and one of the women coming forward to apply for the role is ...

Beyonce.

It's less about the looks (a black Wonder Woman would be cool, imo) and more that it's Sascha Fierce BEYONCE.

For me, anyway. For stupid fanboys it'll be because Beyonce is black.

A black Wonder Woman might be cool, but it is Beyonce. How is this anyone's idea of good? She plays BEYONCE in everything she's in.

I'm not part of DC fandom at all - could you explain why Beyonce would be a bad choice? I'm just curious because I know very little about the fandom or about Beyonce herself, so I don't know.

Well, despite her acting in Austin Powers and Dreamgirls she is still mostly known for her singing career, so I can see why there'd be a lot of 'what the hell, why can't they get someone who is known for their acting talent?'

I remember when they were tossing around the idea of Jessica "7th Heaven" Biel as the new Wonder Woman. Now there was something for fanboys to cry about.

I'm also concerned about the rumors of a McG-directed WW movie. Yeah, that's a big ol' DO NOT WANT right there. Also, I think I was the only person who actually was excited rather than horrified back when the rumor mill had the Wachowski Bros as attached to direct.

Honestly, when you're talking about casting a character who is, literally, an amazon, I can't think of any young actresses who could wear the bracelets and tiara without looking laughable, even if they were to go through some sort of intense workout/muscle-building regime. They'd need to look outside Hollywood I think, and take a chance on an unknown who isn't tiny. (To be fair, I think Beyonce would possibly pull the look off, but she can't act, so no go there)

Beyoncé's gorgeous as always but I can't see her as Wonder Woman. I haven't seen any movies she was in so I can't figure in acting ability. I think of Wonder Woman as being tall and athletic rather than medium and curvy (but height can be faked). I fear what kind of draconian diet and exercise program TPTB would use to force her into what their vision of Wonder Woman is.

Hmmm... I dunno. Definitely not the first name that comes to mind when I think of who could possibly play Wonder Woman, but you never know. I think I could be swayed. They could do A LOT worse than give the role to Beyonce.


And Beyonce as Wonder Woman is infinitely a better idea than the Will Smith as Captain America rumour.

I saw Beyonce in Goldmember and didn't think she was all that great. I blame it on the writing though.

Lucy Lawless and Gina Torres would be my top two choices, but I'll wait to see Beyonce in action if she's cast.

She can hide behind the race thing all she wants, she's the one who's star movie turn was stolen by an American Idol honorable mention. Really, everyone who's like "I don't think she'd be so bad" get sentenced to Christina Millian screen-testing as Nymphadora Tonks.

But it's nothing to get bent out of shape for. She's the one who called the meeting, lobbyed it, everything. Lots of actresses do this for the Wonder Woman role
