THE MADNESS BEGINS
Shrieking masses descend on L.A. for the 'Twilight' premiere

“We drove from the Bay Area yesterday, got in line at midnight last night, slept out here, took the day off work, and stood all day in order to fulfill a dream to take a picture or get an autograph from the stars,” enthused Cyndee Sauceda, 40, who works in a law office. “And if that doesn’t work out, it will all still be worth it if we get to touch Kellan Lutz or Robert Pattinson.”

(emphasis mine)

My fandom is normal. We just dress up like Jedi to wait in line for our movies.

Damn straight. Those robes keep you nice and warm.

Layers FTW. Gotta be prepared for all weather types.

If you're going as Slave Leia you're fucked, though.

That's where the 'modesty cloak' comes into play. Make it out of a nice heavy velvet with a quality lining. Oh, and wear dance tights. The difference is small, but when you're wearing practically nothing every little bit helps. :P

Hey, there's nothing un-awesome about that. I mean, you get to wave a lightsaber around!

I dressed up in an Episode II Padme costume, though, not a Jedi.

I never dressed up for the movies beyond thematically-appropriate t-shirts, but I did bring a lightsaber to my prom.

That right there is pretty awesome. See, I'm a member of the Rebel Legion, so I'm always trying to find excuses to dress up in my costumes. Like my college graduation. That was a great debut for my Ceremonial Leia. :D

I'd do the 501st if I were going to get into costuming, 'cause I like the more technical work of the Stormtrooper costumes--and I'm tall enough, unlike all the other 501st Stormies XD--but also because I not-so-seekritly covet a Grand Admiral's uniform.

I wouldn't mind doing a 501st costume, it's just hard to find one appropriate for a small female. However, a female version of Darth Revan is definitely on my projects list once I start my Grown Up Job.

Yes, Star Wars canon is a bit short on women, of any stature.

The Grand Admiral is flattered.

(And annoyingly difficult to find good pictures of.)

I accidentally dressed up for the movies, because my best friend's husband decided to take us out to see Ep. 1 after a day at ren faire.

Yeah, that was, um, interesting.

In my fandom, little kids point their wands at drunks and call out expelliarmus while waiting maturely in line for their book.

Or they go to the movies dressed in Hogwarts robes and tell perfect strangers in the elevator, "I'm Her-mine-y! I'm in Gryffindor! I'm Her-mine-y!" So cute omg.

In my fandom, people walk around in corsets screaming GRAAAAAAAAAAAAVVEEESSS!!!1 and TESTIFY!!!!!!111 and carry around little blue glo-sticks.

My fiance asked me what my jesters hat had to do with Repo! and I said "Nothing, this is my goth attire."

How can Repo! have a fandom? It just came out last we-

Oh, wait. If the trailers and clips are anything to go by, it's made out of solid awesome.

I dressed up for LOTR:ROTK. That nice heavy cloak sure did come in handy, as it was cold out.
