The cast for season 8 of Dancing with the Stars was announced on ABC last night.

Belinda Carlisle (singer)
David Alan Grier (actor/comedian)
Jewel (singer)
Shawn Johnson (Olympic gymnast)
Lil' Kim (singer)
Gilles Marini (actor)
Ty Murray (rodeo athelete)
Steve-O (from "Jackass")
Nancy O'Dell ("Access Hollywood" co-anchor)
Denise Richards (actress)
Lawrence Taylor (obligatory football player)
Chuck Wicks (country singer)
Steve Wozniak (co-founder of Apple Computer)

Not many of the professional partners are known yet; we do know that Ty Murray will be paired with Karina, Denise Richards with Maksim, and Chuck Wicks with Julianne (who, once again, is participating after saying she wouldn't *g*).

FUCK YEAH STEVE WOZNIAK

I... really hope this season is more interesting and balanced than the last two and isn't completely dominated by one person, like Kristi in season 6 and Brooke last season.

I've only watched it when Heather Mills-McCartney was on--I wanted to be there to witness her leg flying off (which it did not), or at the very least her falling on her ass (which she did once, IIRC).

I would totally watch it for Steve Wozniak, though. And I'm not even a Mac user.

I read on Wikipedia before the cast announcement that he said in an interview that he'd been approached, but if he does accept, he'll be on this fall (season 9).

Aha! I read this list to my mom, the DWTS-watching fiend in the family, and she was confused. We concocted a scheme where Wozniak was replacing Osmond in a spy-type way, but yours makes more sense.

I am impressed with this show's ability to pull in BIG name athletes (LT, Warren Sapp, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Clyde Drexler, etc.) and not the third-stringer/never-was types other "reality" shows get (Yes, Jessie Palmer, I'm looking at you)
