We're not using the Zed word, Mr Darcy!
Coming soon to a bookstore near you: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

And for those of you who are, like me, already longing for the film version: They're working on it. Awesome.

Oooh...I wonder who'd they cast? And can they get Tom Savini doing make-up effects? :)

Is it wrong of me to want Simon Pegg as Mr Darcy? It just feels right somehow.

Rhona Mitra for Elisabeth Bennett (vampires, werewolves and cannibals - zombies have GOT to be next)! Jamie Winstone can be a Random!Bennett!Sister!

Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me used Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as one of the three possible answers to their regular "Bluff the Listener" game. (You can listen to the game here.)

I got so excited when I heard that the other day, because it was the first time they'd used a story I had previous knowledge of!

When I first read P&P I was so wanting a Indian Massacre to happen to liven things up a tad. THIS is even better!

To be honest, I've never been able to make it through P&P. I'm hoping hordes of attacking undead help with that. And I'm especially hoping that this book generates sequels; if Wuthering Heights had pirates, I could maybe finally make it past the first chapter!

Apparently period romance is just not my thing. Sigh.

I'm right there with you. I mostly made it through P&P by focussing on the snark and the very interesting socio-economic commentary and ignoring, you know, the plot.

After the whole Twilight thing, I valiantly tried to read Wuthering Heights, but it didn't happen.

'Romance' and 'Wuthering Heights' are mutually exclusive. Gah! Psycho book.

I only read P&P once which is odd as I usually love Jane Austen.

Personally, I think Dracula should be rewritten as an epic battle between pirates and ninjas.

Oddly enough, it's easier to get through P&P if you read it slower. It seems like it shouldn't work like that, but it does.

I've never made it through a single Jane Austen book or film. I might do now zombies've been added to P&P. Werewolves wouldn't hurt Sense & Sensibility either and a few psychopathic androids'd improve Emma!

There are pirates in Wuthering Heights. That's where Heathcliff fucks off to for years and becomes impossibly rich - he goes PIRATE!! It's just Emily Bronte forgot to mention that.

While I'm about it I can think of a few Anthony Trollope and Thomas Hardy novels that could do with zombies and aliens. Imo, Barchester needs a whole fucking Hellmouth under the parish church...

English Literature: Boring the crap of the world since 1750.

Y! With a massive: "'Please,' I said. 'Let me live. I have to get back to England so I make her brother's life misery; marry her sister-in-law and make her life hell, and never let their children forget HOW THAT BITCH REJECTED ME!'"

I want this so very, very, very much. <3 I'm already placing bets with myself on who gets to survive till the end of the book, and who gets their brains eaten!

Also, Pemberly for all your impregnable zombie-proof defensive needs! <3

Wow, this might finally be the thing that will actually make me get through that book. Why didn't this book exist in highschool so I could read that instead of the original?
