:( I will always be grateful to Bea Arthur...Golden Girls got me through many a boring weeknight.

Also, as for Deadpool/Bea Arthur...there's fanart of it. (SFW.)

Goddamn that was my first thought too.

The second was, 'shit, Deadpool's not even real, where are my priorities.'

Where are your priorities? Probably the same place as mine.

Second thought: OH GOD DEADPOOL. D:

:(

I LOVED Golden Girls when I was a kid, and Dorothy was my favorite next to Sophia.

Thank you for being a friend, Bea.

This makes me really sad. Dorothy's always reminded me so much of my grandma (and Sofia was exactly like my great-grandma, strangely). Golden Girls reruns are going to be that much sadder now. RIP, Bea. :(

Okay, time to move Betty White into protective custody. She, Estelle, and Bea were why I watched Golden Girls every week.

Being a member of the mid-forties contingent here, I was old enough to see Maude in first-run. Growing up big-city blue-collar, I knew a lot of Archie Bunker types, but I never knew a Maude Findlay. What Bea Arthur did was a revelation. I honestly never knew women could be like that because I'd never encountered a woman like that. And if she hadn't been played by Bea Arthur, it just wouldn't have had the same effect. You just know she's up there right now barging in on that great production of Mame in the sky telling Roz Russell and Lucy to move over.

Now that I really think about it, Li'l Spie learned how to Deadpan Snark courtesy of Maude Findlay and Hawkeye Pierce (and how to be an asshole from Mike Wallace). CBS, you have a lot to answer for.

:D Exactly opposite here. I knew loads of Maudes (few in her league, of course, though the neighborhood moms all rocked those plaid trousers), but precious few Archies.

Well, out in the open Archies, anyway.
