Considering that FFVII International went up on the Japanese PSN the week before AC Complete came out in Japan, and that AC Complete is coming out in North America on Tuesday (same day as Sony's E3 press conference!), I wouldn't be surprised to see FFVII up on PSN by the end of the week.

(And as an oldbie fan, I'll be reccing the original FFVII to all the Compilation n00bs like crazy through my regular channels.)

	It's more of an assumption on my part, but every other port has had one, and VIIs original translation was known for being fairly mediocre, so it's fairly likely. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

To each their own, I suppose. ^^; I've played the original, bits of the new translation, and all of the game through in Japanese, and I found the original to be closer to the spirit of the Japanese in most areas. They actually made a few mistakes in the new version, which really surprised me! Though they did clean up the one glaring error in the original version, as well.

Well, I've never seen a perfect translation in my life and am not expecting such a one... Even translations I make, mistakes always sneak in. :3 There are always moments when the right meaning doesn't occur to you. Weird but true.
I like the flow (??) more in the new version... I didn't play the Japanese and wouldn't be able to completely compare it as far as feeling, tone etc is concerned, but the new translation strikes me as more coherent on its own than the first one was. Or something. Not sure why I like it more...
I guess most notably, Frog's speech was okay when I played this in 1999 and it was actually my very first contact with "thee and thou". But today that I know English a lot better, it'd just piss me off to no end. And I don't want to be pissed off by one of my favourite characters! XD

	I have to admit, Frog's speech is a much better translation than the original. But I feel that the new translation just lacks a lot of the verve of the Japanese, which was a lot more present in the original. (Reply to this)(Parent)

	Even if they don't want to spring for a new translation for something that's just going to be up for download in the playstation store, it'd be nice if they could at least use the PC version of the translation instead. If for no other reason than that it plugs a certain plothole in Advent Children. (Reply to this)(Parent)

	This. From what I can tell, the Squeenix games already on Virtual Console (Actraiser and Secret of Mana, at least) haven't been touched, translation-wise. Don't see why that wouldn't be the case with PSN. (Reply to this)(Parent)
