Loot at MSNBC, not caring at all!
Just something relatively amusing I noticed while watching The Daily Show.

Watching this whole Coffee Feud, you just gotta love how Joe Scarborough & co act like typical *wankers* who show up on F_W to defend themselves. You know, the whole, "OH LOOK AT ME NOT CARING, YOU AMUSE ME SO HAHA, CAN YOU SEE HOW MUCH I DON'T CARE" act, while simultaneously dishing out insults. It's slightly uncomfortable to watch, and yet oh so amusing.

What I don't get is why do these *real* news stations lower themselves to the level of actually whining about something a *satire news show* does? Oh shit, they're like those people who insist on debating us and don't get the point of F_W and need to LURK MOAR O_o The similarities, they stun me!

Cute pony though

Not being American, I'm surprised at how funny Jon and The Daily Show is. I actually get the humour!

It is so funny when the proper news shows get so defensive about it. Reminds me of when the current affairs shows here were so gleeful over The Chaser boys getting in trouble.

Calling "Morning Joe" a proper news show is a bit of a stretch. I mean, yeah, it's supposed to be, but Scarborough is such an enormous douchebag that I have a hard time taking anything he says (or anything said in his immediate vicinity) seriously.

I dunno. I think we have to call it a proper news show, because when compared to a lot of other shit that goes down that early on in the morning, it's sort of similar. Especially as far as Fox and Friends is concerned. *shudder*

Fox and Friends is in a class of its own. Morning Joe is bullfuckery; Fox and Friends is remedial bullfuckery.

I have not seen clips of Fox & Friends yet! What is the concept? Is it supposed to be news coverage? Sounds like a children's show.

Fox & Friends is sort of supposed to be a slightly more news-oriented version of the Today Show or Good Morning America (morning shows on the major US networks which are flufftastic -- they have news segments, but they spend the vast majority of their time on celebrity chefs, the weather, health news, those crazy new gadgets people come out with, etc etc. They, oddly enough, tend to be staffed half by actual journalists, and half by complete idiots.). So take all the inanity from those, and add that special something that is Fox News, and you have something that is basically infinitely mockable. You probably actually have seen clips of it if you've been watching the Daily Show for a while (and you definitely have if you watch Colbert), because they present a tremendously easy target.

This is the impression I have gotten too, yes.

Oh, Jon is very Internationally Gettable :D I mean, a lot of the segments work very well all by themselves. Some stuff does kinda require you to be at least a bit familiar with the US politics, but I have to admit, I get most of my US news *from* TDS (and these days, ONDT_Political @ ElJay), and they're pretty good at covering the bases enough that their own jokes come through.

Oddly enough, as long as you have the sense to separate what's humour and what's actual news on TDS, which isn't all that hard, the coverage they give on news is actually pretty good. I would never suggest an actual US citizen used TDS as their only news source, but to a foreigner, it really does work on a "today in the US politics, briefly" level. It's kinda like seeing brief summaries on Internet news sites, and if the story is interesting, you can find more out on your own.

I dunno, it might not give one a complete knowledge of current events, but using it as my only news source has saved me a lot of righteous anger.

A fairly large cohort of twenty-somethings do in fact get their news from TDS. At least it's not batshit crazy?

I discovered The Chaser via youtube and finding the clip where they storm into Today Tonight's offices and Today Tonight was trying to mock them doing it was hilariously pathetic.

What's going on with the current ban thingy with The Chaser, anyway? Will War on Everything be back at some point?
