And yet we never seem to see the same people who whine about the "unfairness" of potentially not casting white people as leads in the Avatar movie complaining about how movies (and novels!) taking place in fantasy worlds based on Europe all seem to be full of entirely white people.

(And seriously -- for most of the leads for Avatar, they decided specifically to cast white people. The casting calls were all for "Caucasian or other", which translates as "white, but we'll at least pretend that we might consider someone else.")
