Michael Jackson has died.
http://www.tmz.com/2009/06/25/michael-jackson-dies-death-dead-cardiac-arrest/

OH MY FUCKING GOD
Michael Jackson Dies
Posted Jun 25th 2009 5:20PM by TMZ Staff
We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

OH MY GOD.

I am shaking, ngl.

ETA:
I hope it's not true. PLEASE LET IT BE FAKE.

WHY WON'T ANYONE CONFIRM THIS, GDI.

TMZ IS THE ONLY ONE REPORTING THE DEATH, NEEDS CONFIRMATION FIRST

POTENTIAL CONFIRMATION? OH GOD I HOPE NOT

ETA AGIAN, VIA TWITTER: According to @FSBigBob KTLA, KCBS, CNN, and MSNBC are still reporting MJ is alive.

EVERYTHING IS SLOW I AM IN PERMA CAPSLOCK.

ETA:
Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times.

Holy fucking shit, he's dead.

;_; for reals. No, really. :'(

MSNBC, NBC, CBS, among others confirm death. CNN, Fox...

I am not even kidding when I say it was a dream of mine to see him in concert. I am so sad, I don't even know what to say or do right now.

LJ is still down, wiki is nutso, Twitter is ROBUST LIKE WHOA. And, omg, radio stations are only playing Michael.

ETA:
I'm guessing they fixed LJ by suspending ONTD. Which is now back up, comments disabled.

WAY TO STAY CLASSY ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT:

Oh yeah, and this just in: JEFF GOLDBLUM DIED TOO. http://bit.ly/l3xgZ
FALSE. I THINK. YEAH. IDK. BRB, STILL CRYING OVER MJ.

I am a giant squeeing Michael Jackson fangirl... yes, even now, after everything, although I'll admit he'd gone downhill physically and mentally in the past five years or so.

He was my first celebrity crush. Hell, he was my first "bishonen" crush (seriously, up until Blood on the Dance Floor or so, he was a live action bishonen, hair and all).

His music, and him in general, helped me get through elementary and high school, helped cheer me up through bullying and neglect (though I suppose part of the reason people thought I was nuts was BECAUSE I liked him). Even now his music puts a smile on my face.

And now he's gone, and I never got a chance to see him perform live (he was in England when I was in Japan, in Japan when I was in England... it was like a curse).

I know, he's just a celebrity, I didn't know him personally or anything, so it's not like I can really "grieve". But I'm finding this is hitting me hard... it's like a small constant in my life just disappeared.

Am I an idiot for feeling like that?

Wow. Thriller, in particular, was a huge element in my childhood. My family watched "Making of Thriller" every Thanksgiving at my uncle's house for yearrrrrs. (No idea how that one started!)

iTunes is currently listing Thriller at #5 and The Essential Michael Jackson at #7 on their top-selling albums list as of... 7:58 Eastern.

This is all so bizarre. First Farrah, which we were all sadly expecting, but now MJ? Wow. I liked his music well enough, and I definitely remember "Thriller" being the first music video I ever saw. It scared the piss out of me, too, but I was 4, so.

It's the end of an era in music, that's for sure. :(

My lack of appropriate icons, let me show you it!

It's hard to comprehend a world without Michael Jackson in it. I haven't been a fan since the mid-80s, honestly, but it's still weird.

He was such a huge part of the 80s for me, and I loved the Jackson 5.
It's a real shame what happened to him, not just today, but all the things from childhood that made him so screwed up.

Currently rocking the fuck out to the Off the Wall album. My fave, beyond Thriller.

It's just weird. I knew he was burning out and he wouldn't last forever, but I'm still shocked he's gone.

That poor man. He always seemed to me to be so unhappy with what he had and who he really was. Hopefully he's found some peace now.

Jeff Goldblum, though, he was just on Stephen Colbert! He can't be gone. He just can't. Or I will be very sad.

I don't think I can call myself a fan, but I'm old enough to remember that point in the 80s when he was the undisputed king of the music industry, the biggest damn celebrity in the world bar none. Every new music video, every new album was a media event. I remember the Moonwalker arcade game. I remember people cheering when he came onscreen in "Captain EO." It doesn't surprise me at all that he still had fans who stuck by him despite everything that happened later. Before all the bizarre stories, the bad marriages, and court cases, he was untouchable. An icon of cool. I hope that's how people remember him.

Can't believe this. MJ was such an essential part of my childhood. I still remember being 6 years old and begging my parents to pop Beat It into the tape deck so I could listen to the entire album non-stop. I've done dances on-stage to both Dangerous and Black & White.

Need to go find my tapes now...

A lot of my friends are saying things like "Ding dong, the pedo's gone!" and laughing their asses off, but I feel sorry for the guy. He was clearly really unhappy for a long time and dogged by the media for pretty much that same amount of time. I don't know the truth about a lot of the allegations levied his way, but hopefully he'll get a fair shake wherever he's gone.

I remember dancing and singing along to all those songs when I was a kid, and he was a kid - can't believe he was 50, that doesn't seem right! He was at the very, very top for a long time. I hope he was happy when he went.

This is not funny, it isn't, but oh dear, Radio 4 keep playing the start of Thriller every time it comes back round on the news list, and its so not appropriate, really.

Never was a fan, but there goes another bit of my childhood.

Some one I used to watch on dA posted this conspiracy theory. Way too soon. And yeah, I'm *BlueShinra.

Also, like usagivindaloo, I'm glad so many here are posting positive things about him. His music, more than just about anyone else's, was the soundtrack for my childhood.

I'm not a fan (though I liked his music) but damn. :/ He was one of those people whom I tend to take granted until they die and then it's just "wtf, he died? how can that be?"

I hope he's at peace now.
