I want YOU to be my new fandom!
You guys are a learned and creative crowd. Only a few posts ago I asked for book recs in a thread, and got a reading list I can't wait to get started with. ♥

I'm also curious about something else. I know a lot of you are active in fandom as writers, artists, vidders, &c., which is ace. But have you got original work available online? I'd love to read it: stories, comics, poetry, travelogues, anything your fancy comes up with.

If you don't mind plugging your stuff (and allowing others to spread the good word), please do link to it! I also appreciate links to communities dedicated to original work.

Thank you!

Ohgodshyness. Um. Aside from that, if you have a livejournal, I have a (locked) journal of original things ranging from mechanical plagues and zombies to living plastic to elder gods and crumpets. It is locked down only because I wish to keep my writerly shame contained, so I do friend back readily if you are not a spambot.

Most of the art I do that's not fandom related is for an art exchange -- my personal website is here. There's also some old original fiction on it. I also have a defunct comic that can be found here, and did a couple of collaborative manga projects with people -- posted under this account. (I drew for Impro-Date, Secret Files of MAX, and The Omega Key -- there were like a half-dozen artists for each, so there's a lot of variation.)

... *blush* I have a silly little original world-building and writing project with a few friends, called the World of Toisian... it's something for which I've always wanted to have actual readers, but the worldbuilding is still pretty incomplete (read: too much still in my head, not enough publically available) and while I produce more stuff than the other participants, even I produce pretty slowly. Hence, an awful lot of it is centered around my main character (pictured in my user icon *glows*) and her family, which I always feel bad for because there are plenty of others whose backstories are just as awesome, if not more so. The world is sort of fantasy-Asian-themed, and much of the existing work is focused on the Japan-analog.

It was originally (and still is, technically) a very, very slow-moving forum-based RPG, but many of our characters have acquired huge backstories that have by now evolved into this project. I'm always a little hesitant to show it off because I post things in the order that I write then, and I write whatever comes to me and in complete disregard for the chronology of events, so I tend to worry that it'd be really hard for someone to get into.

But anyway, enough of my being self-deprecating - if you are interested, we have a website with some bare-bones info; all of the worldbuilding and fic that's happened since last November or so can be found at our LJ community - worldbuilding notes and all that are public; I think most of the fic is members-only, but anybody can join, so. The community is pretty diligently tagged, even if there isn't very much there yet because we're all lazy. Any fic that I've written before November is buried in the depths of my LJ, but if you are interested, I will happily link you to the ones I'm more proud of.

And there you go. ^_^; This has been my stupid pet project for something like four years, so I would be overjoyed and would love you forever if you read anything. XD

[timidly peeks in] Speaking as one that relies on popping in here when the Anonymous-comment winds are friendly, I'll nudge this forward - http://www.wanderland.ca

A compatriot and myself roped a friend with website savvy into creating a webcomic project last year, so far focusing on two men getting shoved into a rather unfriendly and as-yet-unexplained set of adventures (I've used the comparison of X-Files meets Quantum Leap, and I like it). We run updates with one page a week, on Thursdays/Fridays (life permitting), and after a bunch of panicked yelling and wondering what the hell's going on, just got to the fun parts on the main pages. Like zombie wrestling.

We have an LJ community as well that features some artwork, and a section on the website that focuses on short-fiction backstory to the two mains.

I have a livejournal of the same name where all my writing is under lock and filter, because I'm a wimp. I have two current big ones: there's The Imperial Guard, which you may enjoy if you like pseudo-epic action-y stuff with long-suffering protagonists and lots of banter. (I-I like banter.) I have 21 chapters of that done.

The other (which is absolutely stealing my soul right now) is an unnamed YA fantasy project with lots and LOTS of Alice in Wonderland imagery. And I'm always spamming my flist with various snippets of things.

So, uh, if that interests you at all, feel free? Just let me know who you are if you add.

....Haha, I've... been working almost exclusively on original crap lately. XD A comic being the current, uh, fixation. (I suppose that word works, since it's now up to page 260...)

Mostly I see this as working my way up to bigger things and have no intentions of getting this published once it's finished, but I'm enjoying the process a lot. (:

I have an old, finished original project about video games, multiple worlds, angels, the apocalypse, and best friends forever that is here: http://kurai.com/claris -- but the earliest parts of it are literally ten years old (I started writing it when I was fourteen and finished it when I was 24; presently I am 25). New original stuff is all behind a lock over at my lj, lynstraine.livejournal.com, and includes bits from my thesis ('literary' stories about sassy young girls, decrepit houses, cross-dressing buddies, loneliness, femaleness, faeries, nerds, & the dynamics of an exploitative friendship), this new thing I started, and eventually the revision of that first story.

The new thing is a fantasy novel that takes place on a world called Selenas and it's the main focus of the original fiction filter atm; it takes place primarily on a desert continent called Sharkara and its tiny oasis kingdom, Shantiis, as well as other places around the world; it stars this guy, the nerdiest and most morally conflicted Evil Overlord ever, as he tries to protect his small country from the myriad forces that he perceives as swiftly and closing in on it (and by 'protect,' I mean 'ruthlessly overtake in complete disrespect to the strict pacifistic religion of the country'.) I'm calling it the Desert Tower story for lack of a better name, since raising a giant, foreboding obsidian tower from beneath the dunes is one of Damayanti's first acts after invading the palace-temple of Shantiis n_n;

I finally got sick of merely thinking that I can write better than Stephenie Meyer that I sat down and started seriously writing one of the novels in my head. Eight years after starting my first vampire novel, back when I was thirteen, my first finished novel was also a vampire one. It tells the tale of a young woman named Delia whose brother was turned into a vampire three years before. Instead of seeking revenge, the family decided to "make use" of their new knowledge about vampires existing (and that the US vampire king has made a very controversial move in a no-kill treaty with vampire hunters - and telling everyone who didn't like it to GTFO) - their small-town hotel now caters to vampires, thanks to a redesigned basement floor. Add in an opera-singing diva vampire, a series of murders, the awesome grandmother of awesome ("I do not care how or why you are fighting: in this house we do not shoot family members!") and a vampire who is good at hunting down law-breakers but adorkably awkward at romantic advances, and you have Blood Bound (aka "Why Delia's Life Sucks Sometimes"). I suppose a good starting point for a relative series would be a Sookie Stackhouse-esque novel (but only vampires) for a YA audience.

That's the "completed" novel, going through editing and rewrites. My current "primary" project is a YA steampunk/magic duology, while my "secondary" projects are a superhero novel which sort of deconstructs the "fantasy" by making it one hard job for a supergovernmental agency, and a paranormal in which a girl and a ghost set out to solve his 70 year old murder - there's just one catch. She's dying of cancer, which is why she can see him (the dying can see the dead), and her time is running out.

Oh, and I'm outlining and doing research for my first ever attempt at NaNo. In X meets Y fashion: Labyrinth meets Spirited Away.

More details, opening extracts and some short stories can be found on the writing page of my website.
