A new Tales of Monkey Island trailer and gameplay clip have been posted. The mouse+keyboard controls don't look as EVIL EVIL EVIL as the wankers said but that's just me.

I'm really surprised there haven't been any fan project emulating that style -- like all the fan VGA sierra remakes.

One group remade King's Quest 1 and 2 in VGA, and Quest for Glory 2. Another has remade King's Quest 3 and is working on Space Quest 2. King's Quest 4 is being made by another group as well.

They're all really good remakes.

The only King's Quest I played was King's Quest 7. :P

Do you want links? They're a bit more forgiving than the originals and don't suffer from the pixel searches and other early graphic issues.

They're all free and very good work.

Laugh, well I don't remember you ever dying from just standing around in a sierra game but the deaths aren't as cheap. Like falling off a cliff because you were one pixel off D:

I THINK there was one map or screen or level in KQ7 where you could actually get killed for idling around.
Or for talking to a person. Dunno, it's been, uh, 14 years.

I randomly downloaded and played some science-fiction adventure game a while ago, and kept dying... which was really annoying. I have entirely forgotten the title, though. It ruins the momentum.

You shouldn't have that much trouble with these. Quest for glory 2 might have you dying a bit more because it has combat, but all in all its not that bad.

Lucasarts was brill with there no death policy though.

I do love Lucasarts for that, yeah. And I loved testing the limits of that, like letting Guybrush fall into the acid in LeChuck's Revenge... Good times!

But in the goblin cave, you could die by eating those beetles you found. But only the third one is deadly, so it's like *munch*, *munch*, *dead*. That was mean. :P

I remember being annoyed when you had to bring that wandering guy water in the desert because sometimes he'd walk away too fast before you could click on him. And if you walked in the desert for so many screens or something you'd die.

Sigh, I died a lot in that game. :D
