SGA fic, McKay/Caldwell

I recently got into SGA and of course have been living and breathing McShep and the resulting fic ever since. But being the kinky bastard that I am, here's a question:

Are there any McKay/Caldwell fics around? Preferably with a side of jealous Sheppard? Only, I've been watching the X-Files a lot lately, too, and my Skinner love has been rekindled, and I just thought McKay/Caldwell might have some interesting chemistry, and even more so if it ends up being McShep.

So. Are there any?

(X-Posted to my LJ)

ETA: Hell, since we're at it, are there any CSI/SGA crossovers? Just, I'm a huge Brass fangirl and I think that the McKay/Brass snarkfest that would result from a crossover would be totally fucking awesome.

Because Rodney would be intimidating the crap out of Greg and having a snarking match with BRASS, and John would be weirding Nick out and, in turn, be TOTALLY weirded out by Grissom.

Tony Banks is "superbillig"

Ever wonder what would happen if Tony Banks (of Genesis) were interviewed by the German press, and the interview was translated from English to German and then back to English <s>possibly with the use of Babel Fish</s>?

Well, thanks to Moribund the Burgermeister over on the official Genesis Forums, you won't have to wonder any longer.

This is possibly the funniest thing I've ever read in my entire life. Some highlights:

Professionally of course. I remember his damned Drumbox "Man On The Corner", a very beautiful, but really complicated rhythmic song. Phil did so at the beginning of this small drum machine running, there was then Czechoslovakia Offbeat such a dip-Czechoslovakia and then dip: Zidipp! Zidipp! I had always a-rhythmically at the first Zidipp, but often times continued for the second Zidipp. Phil looked to me like being a dog who does not understand. With his funny face.

Later the song changes his rhythm again, again because of the damned Drumbox, this playful usually Mike (Rutherford) on the guitar. Splaaaaaash! A beautiful, and even simple-sounding song - but in truth we have on stage to death counted! Three, four, three, four, Zidipp! Fuck! Wrong! And so on. Poor Phil small But with the a-synchronous Drumbox, in which he has been "In The Air Tonight" in love, this was his idea was not ours.

Aaah, I remember the '81 tour, because we have played. Phil stood as a pillar and lärmte 'rum. I like the song is still very much. All hated him. The people have the ears zugehalten. They have thought, we want them as hostages.

And of course:

I am superbillig, my dear, I do not because of money.

And it's even better if you can imagine it in Tony's voice!

Book blog recs?

I used to read the GAFF forums for one reason only - the book section. Then everything went down, then it went up again, then I lost track and who the hell knows now.

I've been really interested in finding another source of bad book reviews, good book reviews, anything ever since. This goes double for stuff on comics. I've found a few good ones - Smart Bitches, Trashy Books is wonderful, even if I don't read romance - but I'm still searching. I'll read about any genre, I'm just highly interested in the opinion itself.

Any suggestions?

Your thoughts on yaoi. What are they?

No, seriously.

I run a panel at my local con about yaoi, not being a yaoi fan brat, being realistic about it, etc. Last years panels ran generally on the ideas in this essay to give you an idea. Pretty much regardless of if you like or dislike yaoi, I'd like to know in an in depth yaoi discussion what you'd wanna see brought up.

Also, if you have any resources for writing/rping/general knowledge in that area that I could give out links to, it'd be appreciated. Like, for example, I told everyone to go read some real gay fiction and erotica if they wanted realism, but I didn't have any links on hand for good examples, because all mine are actual books.

Yaoi House on Fire

http://dearauthor.com/wordpress/2008/05/11/publishing-house-alert-yaoi-house-llc/

There was this Ai no Kusabi fanfic author named Kira Takenouchi, who eventually started up a company publishing original yaoi. She had subscribers and was publishing some authors, including print books. However, one day, she claimed to have found Jesus, and was going to abandon her company. People were upset, but some of the stockholders were going to carry on publishing.

However... One day Kira returned and claimed that her actions had been a result of mental illness. Now she's claiming that the authors she formerly published, who are understandably unwilling to stay with her company, are still under contract, and is legally threatening them.

So, in case you ever see Kira selling anything, be forewarned.

Blizzard's sense of humor remains intact; PETA is making an appearance in the World of Warcraft!

In WoW, Nesingwary (who is a rather cute reference to Hemingway) gives players quests to kill lots and lots and lots of animals (often without any purpose, as opposed to the quests that have you kill for meat or skins). In the upcoming expansion, DEHTA, short for Druids for the Ethical and Humane Treatment of Animals, has formed to combat him and his hunters. DEHTA gives players quests to kill the hunters and bring back their ears. And if you kill an animal and go to them, they smell the animal blood on you and attack.

I ♥ Blizzard.

Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation received a lot of hatemail (well, more than usual) after his Smash Bros Brawl review. (He didn't like it. *shock*) So this week instead of reviewing another game, he decided to <strike>make fun of</strike> respond to some of the hate.

So my sister's taken up writing City of Heroes fanfic and is trying to work on a way to really flesh out her heroes. I agreed to make character sheets for her to fill out, but then I had a better idea.

Tell me what you think are important questions you should ask yourself about your characters!

Earthbound might be coming to the Wii! It was rated for the Wii by the ESRB, so hopefully this means Nintendo will be releasing it soon. Sounds like they've gotten other games rated that went nowhere, but considering the demand for a VC release of the game, the Internet is hopeful.

Reaffirming Your Faith In Just About Everything

*ahem*

If you have not yet seen this new ad for the Discovery Channel, you totally should.

It's got everything -- astronauts, singing Egyptologists, Mike Rowe, Bear Grylls serenading a tarantula, giant squid, Adam Savage with a flame thrower, and Stephen Hawking singing -- and wraps it all up with an old campfire song and tops it with the best slogan ever: "The World Is Just Awesome."

(If you have seen a version of this on the network, you may have seen the shorter, Hawkings-less one -- this is still worth a gander.)

I have watched this about 58 times already. :-) If this thing doesn't win a Clio award I'm going to kick someone.

Edit: This just in! Apparently there was some Yay-Discovery event, at which some stars appeared with a chorus of kids and did a live version of this! No Mythbusters, but you get Mike Rowe, Bear Grylls, the guy from Cash Cab, and -- yes -- some of the crew from DEADLIEST CATCH! Singing live!
