12:42AM - What I Think About At Midnight
In other news, I tried playing a Vampire LARP tonight. I don't know if I'm just not cut out for LARPing or if it was just a bad headspace, but I couldn't get into it and left early; according to the group gabbing about it outside my apartment, it was AWESOME. It ended with most of the characters getting stabbed in the eye with thighbones. To check for possession, or something. Whee! I'm feeling morose about my lack of involvement.
*sigh*

11:54PM - BloMo7: Snoozy Saturday TV and Beyond....
Saturday is a TV wasteland. It's pathetic, how the networks have basically abandoned the night to reruns of stuff we watched during the week. Luckily, there's still off-network syndication and the TiVO....
Legend of Seeker
Remember Xena and Hercules? Well, this show is from the same team, only it's 9 years later, they have more money and they're taking the story-telling much more seriously (probably because Terry Goodkind is still alive to kick their asses if they mess up his Sword of Truth book series too much). Oh, don't get me wrong, there's still a layer of fine fromage over the proceedings, but the show is definitely more exciting and dangerous than its roots. The SO and I love it, and we try to get it on Saturday (syndication means we can get it Sat. or Sun.) because the day is so empty.
Saturday Night Live
I've been watching since I was a kid. Why stop now?
Dollhouse
Usually, we watch this on Saturday. It's a Joss Whedon show, which means, 1. It won't be on much longer and 2. It's smart and slick and above the average TV viewer's head. I won't even ask you to watch it, even though it rocks, because you'd just be letting yourself in for heartbreak. But if you have a huge jones to watch a show where people's memories are stored away in order to allow new memories to be reprogrammed into them over and over again, allowing them to be anyone or have any skill, then go ahead, tune in. I dare you. ~_^
Dr Who
New special next week! Maybe it's sad, but I could never get into the series until they updated it. I guess I can only stand modern cheesy production values.
Being Human
A vampire, a werewolf and a ghost rent an apartment together...and what follows for all of 6 episodes is much more than the punchline to a joke. There's a second season we're looking forward to from the BBC, and SciFi is going to do an American version next year. We'll see how that goes when the time comes....
Merlin
Yes, we watch it. It's fun. But I have a heck of a time making myself watch it. We tend to go in spurts. It's probably because it's damn hard watching Anthony Stewart Head play a character that's anti-magic. ~_^
True Blood
...cannot get back on the air fast enough. The show is silly, illogical and even stupid at times, but the SO and I can't get enough of muttering "Sookie" at it.
How I Met Your Mother
This is another show I didn't get into until after the first season, but that should tell you how charming and engaging all the characters are, that I picked it up in later seasons.
House/Lie to Me
or, Shows With Fascinating Leading Men. I picked up House in season 4. Huge Laurie, once he caught my eye, was mesmerizing. Plus, I think I'm the only person alive that likes 13. Lie to me is MUCH better this season than last. The show is about Tim Roth's character, and that's where it should stay focused.
Chuck/Lost
COME BACK, SHOWS, COME BACK! I don't disagree that maybe network television would benefit from BBC-like shorter seasons and constantly new material, but it still sucks having to wait almost a year to see shows I adore again.
Ok, anything I'm forgetting, I'll pick up tomorrow.
People were married today and we got to watch live, via satellite on the internet. There were a lot of tears, so if you experienced any network outages today, it's probably because a few key wires were rusted in the process. ~_^ Anyway, it was sweet and a little disturbing (did those people in the back row wander in??), but overall, an interesting experience. Good luck to the shappy couple!

7:18PM - Whaaaaaargarbl
HOMG I nearly gave myself a heart attack earlier. I put the first chapter of Avafic #1 on Google docs a few days ago because I'd floated the suggestion to my beta about using it for editing instead of emailing Word docs back and forth, but I hadn't sent it to her yet. Then today, I put up a blank Google doc for a group essay for one of my classes and sent it to the three other people in my group. I went back to my index and happened to look at the column that lists the document's "Shared With" status. Before sending the essay doc to my classmates, it had said "Not Shared" next to Avafic #1.
Now it said, "Shared With: Everyone". :O :O :O I was like, "Shit, I just shared my fanfiction with a bunch of RL classmates!" and promptly deleted it. Now I have a separate Google docs account for my fanfics, to prevent further mishaps. >_>;;;
8:18PM - Finally, the account of Thursday night!
Yes, I have more or less slept since getting home from the concert.
Anyway.
Thursday afternoon I had my MHMR appointment, Sucked as usual. I was supposed to see the doctor but they fobbed me off onto a nurse. Grr. But I got home in plenty of time to take a nap before showtime.
Hitting Frank beforehand didn't work out :( Was looking forward to it, too.
But that was not the important part!
doombuggie and I chattered on ride there, and I told him this would probably be the most fun I'd had since my RHPS days, and we discussed our mutual RHPS days a bit, and the possibility of investigating the current local cast, preferably with
rehd_fawx.
( What I wore )
We were early enough to get good parking, which is always nice. We hung around a bit, and then we went up to the merch table, cuz Voltaire was there!
doombuggie bought a couple of CDs and had them signed, and I gave him, as I'd hoped to, the bottle ofConjure Oils La Calavera (which he sniffed and seemed to like... he also asked if I was the one who made it, which makes it two for two since Neil Gaiman asked if I wa a Labbie when I gave him a bottle of Shub... now I just need to find a goth icon to give a bottle of Arcana to) and got my copy of OH MY GOTH signed.
[Unknown LJ tag]
Moments after that was taken, I got an unexpected Voltaire-hug! Of the friendly variety, not the creepy one. It was smile-making.
Waiting time. The very loud DJ music, bright spinning flashing lights, and smoke machines were far too much for me, and I mostly huddled up with my eyes closed so I wouldn't burn out.
doombuggie also greatly overestimated my ability to hold a conversation in a noisy club, which is pretty much nil.
Then we had the opening act. Oh lord! He played a keyboard with so much bass that the seat of my metal chair vibrated, which is the best that can be said of him. He had this wannabe-Nick-Cave thing going and sang as if he'd been gargling ground glass and lye, but his speaking voice was normal. He did a few 'oooooo I'm morbid' songs, and then...
"Beth" by Kiss. I thought we had reached the pinnacle, but he followed it with "Chim Chim Chiree" from Mary Poppins. Good thing I'd just hid the restroom or I might have wet myself. If this dude stuck to doing incongrous covers he could be the next Richard Cheese!
And then.
And then.
It was magic, completely magic. The man has astonishing stage presence, just a wonderful personality that shines through.
doombuggie went to do a little more circulation, and during 'BRAINS' a simply adorably pink-haired girl came up to compliment my barrettes. She asked where I got them and I let her know they'd been a Walgreens Halloween item. Poor dear looked so disappointed! Now, the thing about these barrettes... I had them both on one side because the way they were made, if you wear one on each side, one would be upside down. So it was an easy snap decision to pull one out and give it to her. I mean, this was a fifty cent barrette. The gleeful expression was worth much more than that, and she kissed me, too! And it gives each of us a nice little extra memory of an already awesome concert.
As I've said, Voltaire was busily being awesome, doing a lot of his classics and a few new ones. Each one had me enthralled.
And then...
Truly Voltaire is a Messenger of Fate, for he closed with this
I yelled "FUCK THE BACK ROW!" scary loud. And I tried to do a standing ovation, and I fell down.
Stone cold sober, folks. I'm just that cool.
And that is basically how it went.
6:56PM - brb loling
Hey guys... I draw like a girl, don't I? I mean, setting aside my content, my drawing style is a girl's style, isn't it? I dunno if it's cause I'm exposed to a lot of anime/manga, but I can usually pick out a "feminine" style and a "masculine" style, which is why I wasn't surprised to find out certain aritsts are actually female/male when other people were all taken aback. Now, I mock myself for it, but I do think I seriously draw like a girl and I think it's pretty obvious. Right???
So um why do people assume I'm male going by my (non-BL) art???
Also, I don't know what it is, but I seriously have a soft spot for illustrations from beginning artists. There is something frank about them... I think maybe cause they focus more on trying to "tell" something or express an idea with their art than technique or whatever.
Slow night on the internet, man. D:

If they've cast Bilbo for The Hobbit (assuming they have), why can't they just spit it out? I mean, how long did it take for them to tell us that Elijah Wood had been cast as Frodo? AAARRRGGGHHH.
As for who should play Bilbo, I still say Russell Tovey, but I suspect he'd be too busy with Being Human.

4:22PM - Woeful post is woeful. Also probably showing the effects of very little iron reaching my brain.
I've been really blah lately.
I don't feel good.
I don't feel good because the same old reproductive disorder (two doctors have told me it's probably Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, but they'll diagnose it and do something about it when I get insurance) that was bothering me all summer and early fall was apparently just gearing up for now. Cramps so bad they make me vomit, make me wonder fleetingly if I maybe have appendicitis, cramps that laugh cynical little cramp laughs when I take a couple of extra-strength Tylenol and then send them right back up. I'm so anemic that I'm tired and dizzy all the time (and I woke up in a panic this morning because I saw my hand while I was still mostly asleep and came to the conclusion that I was going to lose my fingers because there was no blood left in them), but I can't sleep more than an hour or two at night before the cramps wake me up. And that's the least icky part. I've spent pretty much every day since last Thursday in a) a lot of pain and b) a sort of repulsed astonishment at how much actually fits in the horrid little meatbag wot babies come out of (though now that I think about it, duh, you can fit a baby in there). Also my back hurts and my knees hurt and my neck hurts and the fricking palm of my hand hurts. And, for some reason, I am absolutely craving Mexican cocoa.
And I have some kind of sinus infection.
And the Safeway store-brand peppermint and chamomile tea that always helped stuff like this is all gone, with no real chance to get more. I somehow ended up with a box my sister bought when she was going to school in DC. They're an eastern grocery chain; I don't think there's a Safeway within five hundred miles of here. And it isn't even hormone-induced irrationality that makes me want that specific one. I liked that one because it was nothing but peppermint and chamomile, and all the alternatives I've found that I can order or buy closer are peppermint and chamomile and a bunch of other crap I don't want.
None of which is really very good for getting word count done. I mean, I can't really sit down for more than twenty minutes at a time without my back cramping up. We're supposed to be around eleven thousand something by today. I'm a bit over 5500. The story I'm doing is around eleven or twelve thousand words all total right now, and it's really tempting to, ah, forget what I wrote when. Because when I'm so sore and weepy and short-tempered and irrational that I'm pretty much staying off the Internet, it makes being so far behind extra, extra tragic.
Even though I'd pretty much decided this year that I didn't care if I made word count or not, and was all snarlish and dramatic about how much everyone and everything associated with NaNo annoyed me this year. Because woe, we aren't able to do the day-long weekend write-ins at Karen's writing loft like we did last year (because her heat is broken) and I have to write every day instead of doing seven-hour gluts of writing. I've somehow ended up in charge of organizing the write-ins for Miami County, the next county north of Dayton. I think because I'm only about twenty or thirty minutes from Troy, Miami County's big city, instead of forty or fifty. I actually just remembered I was supposed to go look at a coffeehouse in the next town south from Troy today to see if it's any better than Night Sky, the one that's great for writing except at the time I scheduled the write-in (they have a weekend buffet. At 6:00 Friday there's nowhere to park, not a single free seat, and multitudes of shrieking small children). Because when the main reason I haven't dropped out yet is that I really like the people I meet at the get-togethers, that is a sign of a terrible, terrible time.
Even if I weren't feeling like shit, I have way too much to do. There are a couple people about whom I said "ah! For hir birthday I will finish up this thing I've been knitting very slowly/seriously meaning to knit for them since about April! I have plenty of time!" Then it turns out their birthdays are all in like, the next week and a half. I was supposed to go out to Indiana to pick up the yarn I need for one project today, but my happy organs put the kibosh on that. But that's okay, I still have three projects of mine own to finish! Also I've been picking at grad school applications (I've almost worked up the nerve to ask professor friends I haven't seen or talked to in three or four years for letters of recommendation!). While they are all intimidating piles of paper, University of Madison's is even more intimidating than University of Milwaukee's or Simmons College's by virtue of being much less friendly and due on December 15. And I guess I can't really blame my innards for the fact that I'm distracted by Team Fortress 2. I don't play, I don't even like first-person shooter games, but someone linked me to Cuanta Vida and now I'm sort of fascinated by all the fan art and stories surrounding a game that has no plot and minimal character development.
And for being so behind, my story's going great. Anyone in the critique group here will tell you that I never get past chapter two or three of a story before some new story grabs my attention (because I didn't know where the first one went after about chapter four anyway). I'm to chapter six of this one and outlined up to chapter nine or thereabouts. I don't know exactly what happens after that point, but I know how the story ends. My research that I have to do for this story is to read TV Tropes and to go hang around Yellow Springs and inspect a different coffeehouse there. I'd expected that I was going to be padding my word count with Charlie and Nicholas fluff--it counts if I write it in November--but I haven't had any time for them. This thing won't shut up.
But yes. Not going to finish. Barely hanging in. So tragic.
4:30PM - Cannot. Stop. Squeeing.

MY DOGGY IS SO CUTE!1
MY KITTY IS SO CUTE!1
gaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh *degenerates into baby talk*
why are they so fuzzy and cute D:
10:46AM - Linkses!
Short one today. First of all, marmots! How can you not like marmots? Everyone likes marmots. We like deer and we like marmots and we like all the fluffy animals and we really like the moon. ;)
There is now a mouse designed specifically for use with OpenOffice. I am intrigued but feel I wouldn't use half the functionality.
Many of you may be familiar with Failblog. Well, now there's a blog detailing the opposite - Succeedblog! There are some truly impressive feats in there, although in some cases, I do have to ask why?
ION, someone's found a mandrake!
This is really clever and yet disturbing - Face Paint artist from Michigan paints his face to look like the members of Kiss, octopi and a dog's arse. Um. Yes. It's good, but it's not right! Not for the face paint phobic, that.
Everyone's got a Twitter now, and now even Big Ben's got one. Nifty but a tad repetitive, I feel.
Daily Fail's current poll is more leading than even I'd expect. Should female MPs be allowed to employ cleaners on expenses? Well, yes obviously. Get in there and skew it, my friends. :)
And finally! Got kids? Worship the Elder Gods? Want to make sure the kids grow up in your footsteps (or flipper tracks or tentacle trails, depending on just how far you've gone with it)?
Look no further. Let this educational video assist you. The Adventures of Lil' Cthulhu. I feel it lays the finer points of the mythos out quite adequately. :)
11:41AM
Dear Television Advertising,
Why was John Lydon trying to sell me butter last night? I mean, I'm not one to get all "OMG SELLOUT!", because whatever, but ... butter? What? My flabber is officially gasted, here, people. o_O
Also, what the shit is this? Are you serious?
Now I'm boggled and despairing for humanity. Thanks a lot, douchebags.
Going back to her NaNovel,
Melle
5:40AM - So bad it's hysterical
Still holding off on the concert report until I get the pics from
doombuggie, but this is the opening act.
Yes, this song was performed. There was a cover of "Beth" by Kiss as well.
12:48AM - Perhaps it's time for a post that isn't voice.
Especially since I'm getting very low on minutes and won't get paid until Monday at the earliest.
I'm getting over the bronchitis rather well, I suppose. Some lingering cough/throat issues, but they're starting to clear up. *knocks on wood* Work seems to be settled into a relatively steady schedule that I hope remains so for a while. Perhaps long enough for me to find something better. If work has settled, I can hopefully work out a routine so I get my fun times and relaxation along with my ass-busting.
Only vaguely related to work is this random titbit.
When I started this job a month ago, I had to buy a new belt. So I bought a belt – 40 inches long, so I could wear it without feeling as though I'm about to be cut in half. When I started this job, I had to wear the belt at the second to last notch to be comfortable. Now, only a month later, I have to cinch the belt to the fourth notch just to keep my trousers snug. And the trousers that fit fairly snugly when I started this job now… do not fit so snugly. I suppose the combination of greatly increased physical activity and diminished food supply/poor diet have indeed resulted in weight loss. Or a loss of fat at the very least.
Speaking of food, I still need to eat dinner and I'd like to get in some writing before I have to pass out.

11:56PM - BloMo6: Friday night is Wonky TV night!....
It's like...if you stay home on a Friday night, you must have eclectic tastes. Right? It's certainly not Loser TV for Losers, nooooo. ~_^
(I am kidding, really!)
Ghost Whisperer
I didn't watch the early seasons of this show, trying to tell myself I wasn't interested, but I have a hard time resisting supernatural anything. I mean, I watched Charmed for a few seasons, for gawd's sake! Plus, I have to admit, Jennifer Love-Hewitt is awfully...Lush. It's actually not a bad little show. Usually, the ghost is put to rest at the end of the episode, and any mytharc the series flirts with fits into the regular episode. Ok, the husband's not bad either.
Ugly Betty
Bright, colourful, wacky, fun! I'm a little sad that more people don't watch Ugly Betty. I love the entire cast; I can't think of one character I don't adore. *clings to it*
Medium
This show is smart, the family and characters are real, and NBC is staffed by fools. The End.
Monk
The first half of this last season, the show was cruising hard. The cases were almost nonexistent, and the "bits" were tired. But now that we're into the second half, it's like a light went on and the people involved realised that they only have a few episodes left to say goodbye to one of TV's most original characters. If you watch The Mentalist or Numbers, you have Mr. Monk to thank.
Psych
Oh. How. I. Love. This. Show. Shawn and Gus are a great team, and I love the premise, of a man so observant that people wouldn't listen to him until he began doing his psychic schtick. It's funny, it's fun, it's smart. I actually like Corbin Bersen for once. If you have no idea what Psych is about, then ask me more, because this is a show you should be watching.
White Collar
Jury's still out on this one. The SO likes it, but I have a hard time cheering for criminals.
Sanctuary & Stargate BSGUniverse
Um, we have bazillion episodes sitting on the TiVO. Does not bode well. The first episode of Stargate Universe was a huge downer, and people keep telling us it finds sub-levels from there.
So, who's home with me? ^_^
love, lore
7:00PM
This is the sort of thing I have to deal with at family gatherings.
Warped Uncle: "You can't tell that it is the end times until you have been kissed by a South American camel."
Everyone else (with pained expressions): "Why?"
Warped Uncle: "Because it's the alpaca-lypse."

8:12PM - oh damn
Can't seem to wake up.
Concert account will come when I get pix from
doombuggie.
I sleep more.
8:32PM
Note for links to self: Updated Discovery Channel Boom de Yada vid. Optimus Prime makes an appearance!

3:21PM
After talking to Infiny about it, I sat down and listened to the Devil Summoner drama CDs (Sugita-san plays Raidou! And it's his "soft" voice!!)... and uh. Shit this makes me want to play the games again--they use the same BGMs as from the game. Well, I still haven't started Raidou's second game so... XD;;;;;
And I think Nakata Jouji plays Gouto!?
Koyasu is in this too????? lawl
Okay, it's weird to hear Sugita-san in a role where he doesn't talk his head off. XD;;; At least they kept to the feeling of Raidou being that quiet badass. XD
9:49PM
Wow, I wouldn't have recognize her if M6 didn't use the same voice for the dubbing. The daughter in the xmas episode of NCIS of season 6, it's Daisy from Bones.
Another MW/SM video from 7x03, I wonder where the "No, keep going" was. I think it's just after, Sean is laughing and the shirt is opened.
Michael: *do his joke* *wait for Sean's reaction.*
Sean: *awed* "It's beautiful."
