You know what? I'm gonna go with Fuck You for 900, Alex.
The first thing out of the Avatar casting wank that has really made me want to choke someone: "Look, one reason why produces try for predominately white casts, is because they know that a lot theaters in the Midwest and Southeast view predominately white films, they know those movies sell incredibly well in those areas."

No, no, no. Contrary to popular opinion, everyone who lives below the Mason-Dixon is not more inclined toward whiteness. Please to be getting your head out of your ass.

But, you see, since they aren't explicitly named as those non-white cultures, it's okay to throw a bunch of pretty caucasians into those roles. After all, most anime characters don't look very Asian. This isn't any different.

AHAHAHA my boss thinks muslims keep tiny knives in their turbans for killing white people. When I went 'what' she said 'THINK ABOUT IT.'

And I keep getting customers all the time who are like 'yeah, you can touch our candy, it's not like you're coloured or anything'.

OH OH OH and all the people who use 'he's indian' or 'she's indian' as a fault when describing someone.

Nor is the Midwest full of palefaced yokels, goddamnit. Minnesota has the biggest population of refugees in the nation, not to mention the biggest number of urbanized Native Americans. Huuuuuge Hmong populations in the Twin Cities and Madison, WI. Big Somali population in St. Cloud. Milwaukee and Chicago, they are not full of only white people.

I hate it when the Midwest is generalized as backwards and homogeneous when it isn't by a long shot. Yeah, there are small towns with lots of white people. Tell me the same isn't true on either of the coasts, bitches.
