	My husband is a fan of Promethea, but even he things Moore lacks a certain touch when it comes to writing women. Fortunately for the both of us he keeps a list of comics he wants and doesn't want. 	Not that I'm denying Moore has Some Issues (I wound't argue with the OP's judgment of Wrong Place to Defend the Wacko, Buster), but there are so many male writers who lack that touch, in so many media, even if there are many other admirable things about their work. 	Neither of us are big fans of your other examples, I have to admit, so discussions of their works rarely come up at our place. If we bothered with every writer who has trouble putting themselves in the shoes of a character who doesn't match their gender/ethnicity/whathaveyou, we'd be sitting around all day!
