Dear specific Fandomsecrets troll:
WE GET IT. You think that the film version of this particular comic is the most misogynistic piece of crap ever to hit the big screen. WE GOT IT THE FIRST TIME YOU POSTED SECRETS ABOUT IT. One a day is a bit much, but THREE TO FOUR A DAY IS OVER THE TOP. Please get a new hobby. Feel free to pick up a copy of the graphic novel that the movie was based on on your way out of the fandom, since it looks like you might not have read it in the first place. Or if you did, it doesn't look like you understood it at all.

^_^

Oh god. Considering this is a film with some of the most graphic violence I've seen in a while, I find it hysterical that most people seem to be more upset about some CGI dangly bits.

I KNOW. I've spoken with people who seemed traumatized by the sight of Jon's genitals. "OMG THEY MOVED CAN'T UNSEE HAND ME THE BRAIN BLEACH."

Seriously. I had no idea the male reproductive organs could be so traumatic.

I think I was quite lucky at my showing because there was nary a snigger during Manhattan's scenes. The way other showings have been described to me, they sound like a sex-ed class in primary school. "omg, you can see his WILLIE! *gigglesniggersnort*"

It's a cross between that and my male friends who'd never read the comic squealing, "OMG I AM SCARRED FOREVAH." Between that and the reviewers who seethed, "HOW DARE THEY SHOW FULL FRONTAL MALE NUDITY IN A MOVIE OBVIOUSLY MARKETED TOWARDS CHILDREN BECAUSE IT IS BASED ON A COMIC BOOK!" my clue bat is nearly worn to a nub.

A MOVIE OBVIOUSLY MARKETED TOWARDS CHILDREN

Yeah, most kids' movies are rated R. Riiight.

I know! COMIC BOOK MOVIE =/= FOR KIDS, GUYS. SERIOUSLY.

I know people who won't take their kids to see The Dark Knight because of the violence/Ledger!Joker Means Business And Is Not Caesar Romero's Joker. These were comic book fans who know from the different incarnations of Batman, though. I guess a lot of people in the mainstream audience automatically think "oh, a comic book movie. It'll be like Spider Man. I can take the whole family!" Uh, no.

Don't people actually look at movie ratings anymore??

I guess a lot of people see them more as guidelines now.

I'm surprised, since so many parents seem to want to let everyone else do their parenting for them. One would think that movie ratings would be an easy shortcut; instead of actually researching what a movie is about and whether it's appropriate for their child, they can just look at the rating! But apparently even that is waaay too much effort for some people. *eyeroll*

I was expecting... well, I'm not sure what I was expecting, but all I got was an average-size penis that wasn't even onscreen all that much.

Definitely not long enough for the folks who are complaining so much about it to require therapy.

...shush, you'll make Dr. Manhattan feel inadequate.

Well who knows, he might just be a grower rather than a shower. I'm sure he's fine.

Given his powers, couldn't he just change its size at will?

He could probably make it a tentacle if he cared to. Or several tentacles.

Same. I was expecting it to be all HUGE BLUE COCKS ALL THE TIME OBNOXIOUS WIGGLING but I didn't really even notice half the time.

This. It was kind of anticlimactic after all the OMG BLUE WANG posts I'd seen.

My screening had some teenagers who would applaud any time Dr. Manhattan's junk was onscreen but other than that, we didn't hear a peep from them.

I did however find myself shushing a woman who insisted on singing along to the Nat Cole song playing during the Comedian apartment fight scene.

I have yet to read anything resembling a review that doesn't somehow go "BLUE PENIS OMG!" Grow *up*, peoplez.

I know. I barely even noticed despite everyone harping on it before I saw the film. In most scenes they either showed him closed, from the back, or only his upper body. It really wasn't obvious. The massive graphic violence, yeah, that was rather disturbing.
