Dear fans of everything:
When you comment on f_w to explain that "We're not all crazy" like whoever's mentioned in the post, you are missing the point of the comm.

We are all crazy. Just like that. You included.

You are not a better person if you happen to find incest, slash, het, gen, children's shows, comics, or customized teddy bears beyond the pale. You are merely different. And you're crazy. Own up already.

I guess there's this idea that wankers somehow are a different sort of crazy than normal fans -- so the 'we're not all crazy' is relative to fannish norms.

Or something. The tea is still working its way into my system, so I have to choose between making sense and spelling everything correctly. (Spelling won, though by typing this I am guaranteed at least one grammatical error.)

That made no sense hours ago when I first read it, but I get what you mean now.

It's like by saying "We're not all crazy!" people want to compartmentalize wankers as far away from themselves as they can. I think it's because they find themselves sharing common ground with the wanker, i.e. same fandom. They want to think that a wanker's brain operates on an entirely different plane of reality than everybody else's.

But the thing is, we're all crazy, so we're all just one comment or post away from being a wanker, not a wanka.
