I can barely find the words
I decided to post it here rather than f_w because it's a tiny wank with one wanker but I find it stupid enough to rant about.

Over on Anime News Network, they are having fun with April Fool's Day. They started the day off with an article that 4Kids announced they licensed Ebichu Minds the House. (Not work safe) Another article was that Jerry Bruckheimer is interested in creating a live-action adaptation of Eiken. ANN went all out this year.

Another one of their "articles" was Viz Unlicenses Naruto. This was the weakest of their hoax articles because the article makes it very obvious it's fake. On the message board, most posters were laughing or telling ANN they should have tried harder. Then Sam. shows up on the middle of page two.

ANN this is so not funny. Don't every do that again.

Some people like me don't stop by and browse ANN all-the-time anymore ... I used to check news here almost everyday ... okay! (but now maybe only twice a month or so.) Also, neither my friends nor I are hardcore anime fans anymore, (like we used to be back in our teenage years.) Therefore, we are not in touch with anime news. I would appreciate it, if you don't scare me like that again. Moreover, we always trusted ANN as a reliable anime news site. Playing a cruel joke like this is so not cool. I'm sure there are plenty others out there, that are in the same boat as me.
Naruto is kinda a touch subject right now. I wonder how many saw this as a hoax? or how many smaller websites linked you a false news source on this. Next time think of the long term consequences, instead of the short term amusement. thanks!

What. The. Hell? I want to believe this is fake. I want to believe that he didn't call an article that stated VIZ dumped Naruto and instead is funding research to create a real-life Hamtaro cruel. I want to believe that I can actually understand the last sentence. My head... GET A FUCKING SENSE OF HUMOR, NARUTARD!

(I like Naruto and I find it unfair that non-wanky fans are called Narutards but this guy deserves the title.)

Edit 2: I checked page three to double-check if the poster was pulling a AF joke of his own and sadly... nope. I found more wank. IM NOT A NERD LIKE YOU ANYMORE! IM LEAVING!

So, please, start catering to my friends, myself, and our serious lack of humor even though we rarely visit your site. Also, apologize, even though it won't make one bit of difference. I was actually just ranting about similar cases to a friend of mine on IM.

The thing about April Fool's jokes is that most of them might be uberlame and some of them plain stupid, but they're still *jokes*. Some jokes might be plain cruel, like telling a friend "You're a great person!" and then going "Hahahaha just kidding, April Fool's!", that might not be nice but overall I'd still see that as humor, something not to be taken seriously.

So if you're going to be offended or pissed off, please consider just laughing it off.

This year I haven't seen any tactless jokes like "My mum just died" or something awful like that being posted in an LJ entry that makes people really worried and stuff. Some jokes haven't been funny but god knows I haven't got my knickers in a twist by any of them.

I convinced a few net friends I'd joined church and became a believer. It was fairly fun, because I totally had them while describing how my perception of God was like a mix of Jesus and Thor.

I know exactly what you mean. There were hardly any jokes on my f-list (and the ones that were were very obviously fake, like someone declaring she was leaving all her fandoms for good), but there were tons and tons of rants about how April Fool's Day is horrible, "a culture of humiliation," "why would anyone encourage this kind of day," etc.

Geez, people. It didn't start because people love to prank other people, it started because of calendar changes or was a leftover of worship of gods like Hilaria, depending on who you believe. (There seems to be disagreement about that). But nowhere that I looked did it say, "There were bullies who wanted to encourage a culture of humiliation, so they invented this day."

Yes, some jokes are cruel, but declaring that the day itself and any jokers are horrible is stupid.
