Hey! You! Yes you, over there!

You are not special or being cool just because you say "ZOMG BBM is stupid but I haven't seen it because it's like a love story and I hate Westerns and everyone just likes it because it has teh gay anyway so there".

You are being a fuckhat. Please take note of this and do something about it. Like actually go see the movie before you start insulting fans, kthnx.

Exactly. I read the short story, which convinced me that I don't want to see the movie. Being told that I am denying myself the best movie love story ever (Me: "Did you just dismiss Casablanca like that? Bite me.") and that it will enlighten me will just make me want to slap you.

Telling me that it's because I'm a homophobe or a spoilt little post-Stonewall dyke who doesn't understand how much it sucked to be gay in the mid-20th century has, in fact, resulted in there being one RL person I don't talk to any more.

But I don't insult the fans unless they do that kind of crap.

You know, mainly that just makes me go "Yes! Because cheating on your partner for 20 years, breaking up families, hating yourself, and then dying is truly the pinnacle of love to shoot for!"

I too read the short story and went "Uh, no", and trying to explain to people that "no, really, I hate tragic romance - I also hate Titantic and Romeo and Juliet" is like trying to talk to a brick wall.

I like Romeo and Juliet, but only when Harold Perrineau is parading around in an open shirt for the production.

Exactly! I am not without either understanding or sympathy, but man, that is not going to be my favorite love story of all time.

I will probably rent the movie when it comes out on DVD, but I'm in no real hurry. I just now got around to seeing Goblet of Fire, and I like idiotic teenaged wizards a lot more than I like depressing dramas.

I don't mind tragic romance, but teenagers killing themselves because they're stupid just... ugh. Why the hell is it so popular?

I wonder if it's that older people like to see it so they can think "well I was stupid as a teenager, but not that stupid?"
