So in the new season of Pokémon that just started in Japan, there's a new gal named Hikari. And it seems that Hikari has a first--a female rival!

So of course, this attracts the yuri fans. CyberCubed posts a poll asking if Hikari should be Pokémon's first official lesbian.

Several people leap in reminding us that this is a kids show (these people have apparently never seen CCS, Sailor Moon, or other shows in that vein).

Others call pervert. I must have missed the memo saying that wanting a character to be gay makes you a pervert.

Others mock 4Kids (despite them being one of the more gay-friendly dubbing studios).


And Jesse GS the II, who you may remember from this wank, totally loses the thread with posts like

It's a kids' show. Even in Japan, they don't address homosexuality in kids' shows. And the Harley argument doesn't really hold up - they never outright said he was gay, they just had him act flamboyantly and let the fans decide for themselves. And then there's the fact that this show doesn't even bother with romantic endeavors for the main characters in the first place...

People, get ahold of yourselves. You're drooling over an animated 10-year-old, and now you want her to be a lesbian. There's so much wrong with this, it's just mind-boggling.

They won't put lesbians, gays, bisexualists to the anime because the show is for 8 years old kids! It is not cartoon for people who are older and mature. Its an anime for kids who still don't know what "gay" "lesbian" words really mean. Hikari as a lesbian would be nice but I'm sure, it won't happen. People! Be realists! Don't lie to yourself. Hikari is and will be hetero girl.

BTW, Ash and Gary are/were rivals. Are they gays who secretly love each other? NO.
Hikari and the second red-haired girl are rivals, but they aren't lesbians. If you really need some homosexual couples, go and watch anime for adults and don't be annoying.
