Snagged fromwank_report, I hope it belongs here as it has to do with gaming which is a fandom right? (And kinda insane from the looks of it..)
contactlouis makes an insightful post about the rise of female lead characters in games.
Why does every game that comes out nowadays revolve around a female main character? Yes I understand that you need female characters for eye candy. Yes it is proven that if the designer can legally keep the clothes covering as little female body as possible while still keep a E rating will directly translate into a exponential number of addictional sales. Yes boobs are good to look at.
He goes on to pull statistics out of his ass.
But for **** sakes, do they forget that 99% of people who play games are MALE and regardless of what the media tells you (ZOMG female gamers rose from 0.0005% to 0.001% over 10 years, ZOMG doubled) girls don't play single player console games! They only play chat room games like MMOs. Where the better you chat, the higher you score.
Others come along and correct him with their own made-up stats.
I'd like to see your sources. I know for a fact that you're wrong. Regardless if you were exaggerating or not, female gamers probably make AT LEAST 25%.
And i highly doubt females make 25 percent of console gamers. at max is probably 10 percent.
I only got four pages before the urge to smash my fist through the moniter rose drastically but the person that reported the wank promises that it gets better and to watch out for Cloud19's posts. "He's like a more polite but still sexist version of the OP."

A bit of a double whammy as this article by DailyTech was also reported: Women Outnumber Men in Online Gaming.
"The responses include "Your sample is too small!" "Men don't take surveys!" "Women are really men, if they game." "Obviously, they're only fat chicks!" "Obviously, it's only flash games and sims. No real women would play Guy Games." and "Women only watch touchy-feelie TV, but I'm dating Boomer, so, go me!"
And that's just a small sample of the idiocy on display."
