Battlestar Galactica rapewank!
Kind of small but it feels like playing wank-bingo.

On Battlestar_Blog virus_x posts a rant (edited for spoilers if some people, like I am, are still wending their way through season 2):
But my hatred for the Cylons has grown by a few orders of magnitude, after watching what happened, Friday. I won't say what, I won't say why, but now, I condone virtually everything [a group of the good guys in Season 2] did to Cylons, and have absolutely no qualms about the most gruesome extremes of physical and psychological torture being used against them. To me, virtually all of them should be designated as targets of wholesale extermination. Now, I cannot see the vast majority of them as anything other than dirty machines.
Given that a plot point was that those people raped the female humanoid cylons, some people get antsy, saying, "Rape is never okay."

Clearly they misread virus_x! I mean, who reading that rant could ever imagine that he approved of such extremes of physical and psychological torture?

...Oh, wait. But don't worry, it's not his fault! It's kind of cute to watch him wank up a storm putting the blame on everyone else, because when he said "virtually" he OBVIOUSLY meant "within reasonable limits". The orgasm finally comes here:
No, I'm putting the blame right where it belongs: on you, and the rest that have poor reading comprehension. I quite clearly wrote: "...virtually...". So, like people that probably get no other exercise than jumping to conclusions and running people down, you took it upon yourselves to assume everything, fill in the blanks with what you apparently wanted me to say for the sake of the fun of writing negative criticism, and didn't even bother to ask for clarification.
Because, hey, rape is so heinous he'd never even countenance it, but wholesale extermination is A-OK!

Then there's It's just a TV show!, Let's all get along now, and calls for a spoiler LJ-cut, which lead to his wanky ETA:
Edit: Even though I categorically refused to state why, or wherefore, someone has called this "spoilery". I say that's a load of crap, but, oh well. Be warned that this general, non-specific post that may or may even not pertain to any episode in particular could be interpreted by 1 out of 30 people as "spoilery". You have been warned.

I have no idea what episode in Season 2 this would be from, and I've been watching all of them religiously. Right after Doctor Who.

OT: the TWP recap guy is nuts.

It spans Pegasus and the Resurrection Ship episodes (I just watched them this afternoon).

GOD. I HATE JACOB SO MUCH. He makes me frothy, especially when he used the line "here's where the scene gets gay" to refer to a scene with no homoerotic content. This was about a week after his little "poor oppressed gay me" rant. Plus I hate the way he handled the rape issue. Plus I hated his Serenity recap with a passion.

Plus, he's just nuts.

I adore the new BSG but I used to watch the old BSG religiously when I was a kidlet, I loved it. I don't know whether to go back and watch it again though, I have a feeling I'd be left horribly disappointed.

On a side note, I used to call it "Battlestar Galaxative." My parents never corrected me, damn their sniggering hides.

See, I was 10 when the series first aired and I even remember seeing the movie in the theater (IN SENSURROUND!), and god, I loved it. I had the toys and the all the books and tie-in junk that I could get my hands on. Remember the capes? I still have my little toy Muffit the Daggit.

But then I saw it as an adult in repeats. And man, it's just so cheesetastically bad! I think Richard Hatch and Lorne Greene were the only people on the show who could actually read, never mind act. I still love it, mind you, but as good teevee goes, the new series wins, hands down.

They just aired those two episodes in Australia, and the first thing I thought, after "wow Battlestar is good, why haven't you been watching this all along?" was "oh, wow, the wank cometh." I now need to go back though archives and find the wank I'm sure it inspired when first aired in the US. Because it is a slow day at work and I am bored. - dancink@lj

Next time, if you don't understand something, ask about it. Damn, I hope you're not a teacher.

Now, see, I found this really funny. My mother, a teacher, said the most important thing about teaching was teacher/student communication. If a few kids misunderstood her assignments, they need to ask her for clarification. However, if a MAJORITY of the kids misunderstood, then she obviously HAD NOT BEEN CLEAR with the assignment. Damn her earth logic.

Is it also really sad that, after I read the 'dirty machines' comment, I instantly thought - "HEY! Machines have rights too!" Clearly, Megaman and other sci-fi has warped my brain. *is a geek*

I decided to read some of the OP's blog, to see if this sort of thing was par for the course. It seems so; every other post is a rant about something he saw/heard that pissed him off.
The funny part is where he takes a "Which Star Trek Character Are You" quiz...and comes up with Spock.

Well, extermination can be acceptable in a "Well, y'all are gonna keep trying to kill us no matter what, so we're just going to have to end you" cold practical way. Rape is just being an asshole without any real purpose. There's not really any gain or necessity to rape.

Being an old timer, I remember Battlestar Galactica from the good ol' days.

After getting the cliff notes show on the "new" Battlestar Galactica prior to the new season and watching the first two episodes of said season. Only one thing came to mind: "There's two hours I'll never get back."

The "revisualizations" of parts of the canon were interesting, but didn't win me over to liking it. Starbuck and Boomer from male to female? Didn't agree with, but I could stomach it.
Turning Boltar from a rotund, blithering human traitor to a sympathetic human pawn. Absolutely loved the concept.
Making Cylons "skinjobs" (gotta love BR slang in BG). What? But, ooookay.
The "new" Cylon Centurions? The "old" versions were scarier than the antalgic gait walking, CGI dofuses they have now.
You have FTL travel, yet you're still using slug throwers? Stupid.
The old "Apollo" playing the VP in the "new" Galactica. Hysterical.

Guess I'm a cranky old man.

Those are my thoughts on yaoi in Battlestar Galactica.

I am a bad person. My first and only thought on this wank was 'oh, yeah? Why didn't they rape the guys, too? It's the 20-nth century, let's see some fucking gender equality. Literally.'
