Devil May Cry wank, and it's not about Nero, twincest, or the PS3!
[info]laryna6, who already has a history in the Devil May Cry fandom, has created a bunch of new communities: [info]spardaxeva, [info]dantexnevan, [info]dantexalastor, [info]dmc_yuri and [info]vergilxlady. Given that the fandom is composed of AT MOST about 150 people, and the sole fanfiction community, [info]dmc_fics, gets about one new fic per month in its good days, people ponder out loud the need for so many communities fractionning the already tiny fandom.

[info]laryna6 doesn't take too kindly to this and deletes negative comments.

[info]_sirius_denial, poster of a deleted comment, does not take kindly to it.

ETA: Aaaaaaaaaaaand [info]laryna6 disabled all comments. So much for "Reasonable objections get answers, wank gets deleted."([info]laryna6), huh?

Unfortunately for her, we have the entire thing.

And what about people who only like specific pairings and don't want their friends lists cluttered by tons of D/V fics when they only want V/L?

Yanno, I don't know a goddamn thing about Devil May Cry, other than the fact that two of the characters are brothers who are frequently slashed, but in a fandom where the main community only has 288 members, I rather doubt that there's enough fanfic to clutter much of anything.

This reminds me of the Herc/Xena slash (not alt/femmeslash) community. Even at the height of the popularity, the fandom was real small. As a result there were lot of small communities devoted to specific pairings, yet if you checked out membership you saw the same people in every group. Eventually everything fell under the banner of the ksmithares group, even the non-Ares stuff, simply because it was the largest of the yahoo groups at the time.

Anyway, this is all a long way of saying that it makes no sense to have splinter groups when in the long run everyone will keep posting under the main comm anyway!

The best part? Her naysaying about [info]dmc_fics and the mad comm creation is because tro and I put her on moderation after she knowingly, intentionally, and deliberately broke the rules.

The fic comm membership/posting rights is restricted to age 18+ for a reason. Most of our fic is porn, and our porn can get pretty damn brutal and graphic and extreme. It's hard to find "normal" porn in DMC. Demonic rape, weapon!sex, incesteous hate!sex with bloodplay... that's standard fare.

She posted links to fics by someone under 18 to help said person get around the age limitation. We discussed it and changed the rules to forbid posting works or links for things not within someone's own creative control. Logic being, if someone wanted their fics on the comm, they can link to them there or post them. I created a videogame fic rec comm to allow for it, but I haven't done anything with it since. ::lazy::

All I know about Devil May Cry is that whenever I mention that I had a rat named Vergil, INVARIABLY someone asks if the other one was named Dante and they are NEVER talking about the Divine Comedy.

And aw, a fandom of 150 people! I'm currently in a fandom that can't be more than like twelve people tops. Does that even qualify as a fandom?

*snickers* I'm reminded of when someone made "getbackers_yaoi" on LJ, despite the fact that 90% of the posts in "getbackers" were ... well, relating to yaoi.

But at least the extremists who care for nothing about the fandom except for making the boys sleep with each other in OOC and fluffy fashion mostly stay over there, so the community saved me from having to see things like this on my friends page. -_-

The US comprises 50 states.
Women comprised 48% of those polled.

On the other hand:

The US is composed of 50 states.
The demographic polled was composed of 48 women and 52 men.

Did anyone else take notice of the fact that the prize in this contest is a fic written by her? That's some serious ego right there, people.

It's a contest to promote her new comms... with one of her own fics as the prize... why would anyone want to enter this thing?

All I'm gonna say is that I've seen this coming for one HELL of a long time. Like when she first came here. And at first, I even tried to defend her (which was VERY stupid for me) Guess I pitied her, which makes me even more of a shit really. 'scuse the French.

ANYWAY, I hope she actually DOES leave the fandom this time. Would make everyone a HELL of a lot happier!
