He's Gay?! Wank - Take 2
So Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight has come out to the public, and unsurprisingly IMDB is off and wanking.

It starts off with an innocent enough question of if he's seeing anyone right now. The first few posts are the expected "he's gay?!" and "that just ruined my day". Other people question the OP and even say s/he is full of it. Proof is linked to, in which Knight says, yes he's gay. Choice quotes from the thread:

I don't think that he's gay - He was on Martha Stewart today and Martha asked him if he had a girlfriend and he said no because of his busy work schedule - so I would doubt if he's gay,but you never know.

Reminds me of my favorite actor, who people have wanked on over his sexuality (on his MySpace he put "bisexual", which had fangirl hearts soaring, but in his book he admitted he feels he can only have emotional relationships with guys and therefore that's what he looks for, and he's been in a committed relationship for years). The wank doesn't go away, no matter how many times and ways this guy tries to clarify himself, how many GLBT functions he attends, or how many movies and shows he stars in where the fact that he is not straight is really, really hard to hide.

On the other hand, he's a totally awesome person and was wonderful to me in e-mails and when I met him. But yeah, expect to see this wank lasting for a long time to come, if my own fandom is any indication. (Without fail, someone will always come up and ask "I heard a rumor: is he gay?" and it's off to the races.)

Why do people need to emphasise it when a straight actor manages to play gay/the other way round convincingly? Actors play everything, from policemen/women over massmurderers to people with severe mental disorders. Yet nothing amazes people more than when an actor realistically pretends to like another sex than s/he does in reality. I don't get it.

I'm an odd person. When George Takei came out I could only think that it must have been awful for him living a public lie all those years and having been born into an age (and possibly family?) that wasn't supportive of him.
