	OMG Square is totally just marketing to people that have been with Final Fantasy since the very first game and you're only REALLY a Final Fantasy fan if you really hate it when the characters look close to actual people so you're not a fan if you like any Final Fantasy after seven but nine is okay because it's like the old eight-bit days YEAH! splurt (Reply to this)

	I've seen more people calling Rikku a slut than Yuna. I'm like "For godsakes, people, get over it... she's wearing at least as much as Tifa did." Personally, I adore Yuna's new character design. Rikku's is another matter, but in that article, she was wearing some kickin' shiznit yo. Seriously, after all the pandering to the (yaoi) fangirls, seeing some H0TT GRRRLZ pandering from Square(Enix) is actually kinda funny. (Especially, IIRC, there's little to no fangirl pandering in X-2.)

Although I gotta say, Icz, great point about the fayth being released so that Yuna had to turn to something else (Al Bhed machines >D) to get her defenses around. I admit I was a little taken aback the first time I saw the guns (and made some jokes as their expense), but hey... Honestly, don't knock it till you try it. I don't see why these people are up in arms, when they haven't even played yet.

And just to allow myself a little wankiness, Squarenix hasn't exactly been up to par on the RPGs lately, IMHO. ::IGNORE the KH icon!:: ::SNRK::

FFX-2 looks like cheesy fun. At first I had a bit of WTF reaction to it, but it looks like an odd little sidestory. FF fans need to be shaken up like this; they tend to get very angsty and sanctimonious about how Important the franchise is.

Looks like the thread is going well, in a way, though. Rant on. :D

Oh, but really! They're only following the actions of the more popular of the FF heroes and those Deep Meaningful Plots with their Deus Ex Machina Endings!

IMHO, Cloud and Squall did pretty much set the precedent for the angsty!omgwtf!watchmebrood!protagonist in FF. I mean, yah, Cecil was somewhat angsty, but his Angsty Factor was ousted by his best-friend Kain, who couldn't make up his mind what fucking side he wanted to be on ~~and so kept taking all my GODDAMN GOOD WEAPONS/ARMOUR/ITEMS WITH HIM EVERY TIME HE SWITCHED THAT BASTARD~~. (No, I'm not bitter, not bitter at all.) And even that wasn't so much that I felt that's what the game revolved around.

FFX, despite being a game I can't sit through twice because Square foolishly didn't include a 'skip scene' option (or if they did, I couldn't find it), had a doofy hero that I actually wanted to see get the girl/world in the end. Sadly, he couldn't shed any sunshine on the dark, dreary world of the FF fan.

But I'm ranting. I just wanted to say that first line I said way up there before my fingers kept on typing. Damn you fingers!

Ah, entitlement! Because as we all know, managing to get a reviewing job means that your opinion is better than everyone else's, and that your word and preference must be law to developers!
I mean, critics obviously have flawless opinions about everything!
This critic says that the Daredevil movie was a HUGE improvement over Spider-Man! It must be, despite a signifigant portion of viewers in a poll saying they wish they'd had their eyes gouged out instead of seeing Daredevil!
Scott Kurtz plays critic and says every webcomic in existence sucks except for his! Why, they must indeed suck, despite the fact that his comic is as close as you can get to a cut-and-paste strip without using videogame sprites!
Game critics say that Final Fantasy VII and VIII were horrible and blights on the series, had horrible plots and pathetic gameplay and magic systems, and no one could possibly enjoy them! Those millions of people that made them best-sellers are just fooling themselves!

Obviously someone doesn't know how hard it is to hold a gun correctly, aim it, shoot, not fall on your ass, and get the bullet somewhere around where you aimed it. Yes, I do shoot, and handguns are friggin' hard to shoot if you have small hands. Plus, there's the fact of aiming it at a real person. If you're not an evil murderer, it takes a lot of courage to take a life if yours is in danger.

And, does this guy think that having a sword or a dagger is less cowardly? Those are still weapons that are not naturally part of a human body. They can be used cowardly too. Shoot a person from afar, slit his neck in his sleep, or add poison to his wine. Coward is as coward does.

Oh, lord. Not the 'FFX-2 is so fun. Now I must hate it!' argument. Yuna lives on a subtropical island. Rikku lives in the desert. Living as I do in Florida, I can definately see why the daisy dukes would be a definate plus. And since when do little shorts make the girl?

I wish these 'omg i am so teh old skool' RPG snobs would just crawl back into their dens and play FFO and leave FFX-2 alone. :X Ever since I've heard of it, I've been really anticipating FFX-2- the new job system, character designs and overall dynamic of the game is just what I needed after 5 years of !angst!. Oh. And after FFIX, I definately needed an FF game of some quality, and FFX and FFX-2 were just that. I plan to enjoy it despite what the Mighty Oracles of FF Quality say about it.

I wonder when videogame fans will realize that 'old style RPG' does not necessarily mean 'better RPG'?

Actually I don't get the old school people, either. I'm just really picky about the FF's I like. I end up not "getting" some of the uber popular ones. I've gotten farther in FFV than FFVI cause six bores me. I barely was able to make myself beat FFX. ^^;

At least I acknowledge I have weird taste. But Rikku being redesigned to look like Christina Aguilera still kinda creeps the shit out of me.

Yeah, I've often been told that I'm not a "real" Final Fantasy fan because I came in with VII and like it and VIII. I've been told that they "aren't REAL Final Fantasy games" and so on, and so on...
Well excuse me for my desire for the game characters to look like something resembling adult humans. :p That's one of the reasons I could never get into FF9, among others... the characterization just DIDN'T WORK with the characters looking the way they did. Zidane is supposed to be some huge womanizer? He looks like he's TEN! Garnet counts as a lolicon idol 'cause she, too, looks like she's about eleven, even though she's obviously supposed to be older. I felt like I was playing a game that should have been titled "Zidane and Vivi's Big Adventure All 'Round The World!"
