Your Kink Is Not Okay
Taken from [info]wank_report

[info]arrmaitee and [info]daylyn are assigned to write [info]ravingraven's Harry Holidays giftfic. In the spirit of the season, they decide to include all of her squicks and deride her pairing of choice.

Author's notes: This crack!fic was written for ravingraven as part of the harry_holidays fic exchange. She requested a smutty Christmas fic featuring Harry/Sirius, her favorite pairing. Although she obviously SHIPS Harry with his Godfather’s corpse, she interestingly indicated necrophilia on her list of squicks, along with death fic, chan, bloodplay, scat, watersports, sub-dom, dub-con and non-con. In an effort to help her overcome her profound confusion and extensive squickaphobia, we have written her a simple Christmas tale which includes all of her squicks. Happy holidays!

People are not amused. Arrmaitee doesn't understand why.

Ravingraven is upset by the fic and decides that this is the last straw:

Something else threw me too. I wandered by harry_hols and saw a fic had been posted for me. Oh yay and squee right?

Ugh. No.

I'm really, really, really not a fan of crack fic at the best of times, and I just don't find it amusing. So ugh, I feel like I threw away hours of my life to write 4,000 words of the best damn fic I could for my giftee and in return someone wrote me crack fic consisting of everything I hate most?

Gee thanks.

I haven't commented yet, and to be honest I'm not sure that I will even though it makes me feel a bit rude. But I mean... what does one say to receiving some fic that you absolutely hate? I've been quite lucky in HP exchanges in the past, and have had some really lovely gifts written/drawn for me. But even on the rare occasion I have got something I haven't really liked I've still gone and politely said thank you and found something nice to say about it. But with this I just don't know.

It might just be my current state of mind that finds it so unfair and unfunny, but I must admit that seeing that fic pretty much settled me.

I'm quitting fan fic for good. fuck fandom.

I'm not sure yet what I'll do with all my fics. I may take them down, I may leave them up.

I figure I'll decide in the new year.

Arrmaitee responded but the post has since been locked.

ETA: The authors apologise in the comments of [info]ravingraven's latest post.

ETA 2 We have some details on the locked post here, here and here (oh, and here). They make the apology seem even more sincere!

ETA 3 [info]oh_envy has provided the text of the originally unlocked post.

ETA 4 Mod has apologised and taken down the fic. Screencap of page 2 of the fic and comments. Screencap of mod's now-deleted comment praising the fic. Friend of the pair flaming ravingraven. There's also another 'apology'.

Here's the mod's comment from the now deleted fic.

Oh, she obviously read it. What a shitty mod, and a miserable person.

Thank you for saving it for us. ♥

Erm, maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds like a polite comment (because the mod has apparently read and commented on every fic in the exchange), rather than a glowing, praiseful review. O.o

It blows her "I didn't know it was that bad!" ass-covering attempt out of the water. Given the nature of the author's notes, and what seems to be standard etiquette for fic exchanges -- you give the person what they ask for, not what you think they should want -- she should have known better that to post it.

And she sure as fuck shouldn't have commended them on it.

I think what really called attention to the mod was that [info]arrmaitee kept using, BUT the mod loved it as an excuse that it was OK to have written the fic as a gift.

*nods* The mod, as far as I can tell, certainly didn't love the fic. *g* I think she was just politely commenting on it because that's what she'd been doing through the whole fest.

Of course, I am shocked the fic got posted in the first place. :/

I think the damning part is that she pulls a quote out from the fic. The whole "I don't have time to read every fic ever!" defense gets shot to hell right there, because clearly, she read that one.

Glowing praise or not, having read it as thoughtfully as she did, she shouldn't have posted it, or at least, she shouldn't be claiming she didn't recognize it could have been intended to hurt RR.

Yeah, you have a point. And it wouldn't be a big deal if the mod's apology was more like, "Whoa, that was stupid of me, sorry. I didn't do my modly duties well at all." Everyone screws up and has lapses in judgment; it's just, you gotta own up to them.
