Because costumes are serious business!

For those not in the know, the MMO City of Heroes has one high level raid. And it LAGS. So we start with Dr.Gemini posting a few suggestions on how to reduce the lag, including a suggestion about some of the more graphic intensive costume pieces like capes. All seems calm until Lord_Sidious steps in:

"Sorry but honestly the amount of lag you get from my costumes and your computers FAILING systems requirements are NOT my problem. fix it yourself. Do not expect others to take care of it for you."

And the splooge flies, six pages and counting!

And now I feel the urge to creat a new costume coming on.

Not only does the Hamidon raid lag, but it's boring and anti-climactic.

I've gone to exactly two Hami raids since CoH launched. The first one was with my Empathy/Dark, where I spent the entire time ether chain casting Healing Aura and both RA's, or rezzing someone who'd been one-shotted by a mito.

The other raid was with a Kin/Rad, which was entirely pointless, since Kin needs to bounce off a mob in order to heal, and that can't happen, since it would upset the tried and true ritual of bringing Hami down.

Bleah. I'd rather level up another alt instead of go through that again. =P

Sounds better than mine. They put me around attackers with my emp/rad and they're all attacking and I'm healing and for some reason I'm the only one who ever. gets. hit. It's like he knows.

I only bothered taking my emp on a couple of hami runs and yeah, can't be bothered with that again. Laggy, boring and dull. I preferred being the healbot on a freak run to that.

I don't know about the other servers, but over on Virtue the problem isn't people lagging at the Hami raid because of people's costumes. The problem is the people who've started griefing the raid by spawning the Kronos Titan in the middle of the raid and having it run rampant.

I remember, way back when, on usenet... It was good netiquette to put in manual linebreaks at 80 or so characters secause otherwise you got long lines that went off the screen on many newsgroup programs, especially the older ones.

You got a lot of the same reactions - "Buy a newer computer then, bitches" Because the offending posters thought that changing the auto-linebreak setting on their readers was such a hardship. I remember one guy insisting that "You can buy a computer at Sears, so there's no excuse" (He apparently thought that (a) nothing at Sears was more than a hundred or so dollars and (b) every household has a hundred dollars to spend on luxuries).

In DDO we just have our armour and robes showing. Quite a few'd love to be able to show off our capes, but if this is the cost of it, I'll settle for my funky purple/white +3 full plate with the pointy nerd hat.
