a bit of mini-wank
Just some amusing mini-wank from LoTR...

I followed a link to a puzzlingly bad fic ("His mind, wandered to the raven haired beauty that had ensnared him for all eternity. His heart would always belong to her." Oh, gag me with a spoon...) from the marysues community over on lj.

I found this in the reviews:

"my, my. someone sure does have a nice case of telepathy.
don't know if what i speak? let me fill you in.
i'm an avid member of the role playing world, and within the last year and some months, i have aquired a character by the name of Gaelwen Tathariel.
want to know who she is? the daughter of Gil-galad. leader of an army in Gondor. Faramir's life-long love. she binds herself to him. she even had a little run in with Haldir in her younger days.
one reason i'm writing this review, is because it seems to me that this story is a little too close to my roleplaying character for comfort.
and trust me, i'm well known in the community, and here on ff.net. don't know me? read the BreeGirls. i'm Lily.
fel free to e-mail me about it at Skullgurl48@hotmail.com. until then, i'll continue to belive that this is a stolen idea."

That's funny enough in and of itself (I have no idea who this woman is, but the whole "I'm well known in the community so ph34r me!!!" thing is amusing), but then it's followed by swift backpedalling:

"i just wanted to sign this again and apologize to Lucien and the readers for my last review. i jumped to conclusions a bit and didn't give the author a chance to explain the situation. in fact, i was wrongly informed of a few things, and i will say that it is sheer coincidence that this story and my roleplaying character are very similar. it was an honest mistake.
with that being said, i hope you enjoy Lucien's story, as i have."

HOW DO THESE IDIOTS LIVE PAST PUBERTY??

I honestly don't know how people lacking this many braincells can cross a road without getting hit by a large vehicle.

It really puzzles me and keeps me awake at night. We need fewer traffic laws in order to boost natural selection.

Lucien?

Would she happen to be the former leader of the Parti Quebecqois too?

Let's see...

Elves are all gay.

French Canadians are all gay.

I think we have a winner! DINGDINGDING!

The Breegirls are fairly prolific on ff.net, particularly in the LOTR section. A lot of the stuff i've seen of theirs has been self-insertion fics in which they're married to the Hobbits and have many wacky adventures. Not my cup of tea really.

Dude, being well-known on ff.net is not really something to brag about.

Wannabe BNFs make the baby Jesus giggle.

I'm a BNF in my living room. Oh yes.

Yes indeed, though I used to do it before I knew better. Not so much on FF.N as a board I was on early in my infestation of the web. (There's a classic rite of passage for you - going from "Hey, when are you going to write more?!" to "So who are you again and why are you talking to me?" Poor little plebie, shivering in the cold...)

But it's kind of funny how people will draw increasingly smaller circles until they are important. I used to know people who quite literally didn't realize that there was more than one place on the web to post fanfiction. This worked both ways, because then you had people throwing fits when they didn't gather a following in that exact spot, instead of just picking up and posting their story somewhere else. Good times.

It's nice to know the poor traumatised thing gets some laughs...
