Remember, Capcom: YOU OWE US. Give us back our exclusive!
So, last Tuesday, Capcom announced that the upcoming Devil May Cry 4 was no longer a PS3 exclusive. The game will be coming out for Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.

On the official Capcom USA board, a thread is created, titled What are you thinking, Capcom? You know where this is going now.

There is some wailing and gnashing of teeth, despite several calls to reason. There's photoshopping. A petition is even made!

To: Capcom

We (The people that have signed this petition) feel very left out in your decision to make Devil May Cry 4 a Multi-Platform title, and hereby agree to boycott your sale of Capcom affiliated games. This is due to your decision to turn your back on your most faithful gaming company. For years we have enjoyed games, we have reaped the benefits of your commitment to Sony. We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself. We want you to know that will not, and should not stand for your actions, and therefore withold our option of buying your product.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

There's several posts wondering aloud when and how Capcom will respond to this.

And lo and behold, Capcom DOES.

Sven: We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes. At the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers.

Unfortunately for Sven, his response only fans the fire and entitlement!wank rears its ugly, yapping head:

C-Warrior: But I think the issue more importantly is that you are denying the product they would get. Unless announcment of multiplatform release allows the producer throw a signafacantly larger amount of money to the budget, nobody can say a multiplatform title is better than an exclusive one.

RRchang: So basically, you are saying "we don't care about those people who voiced their discontent because we can make more money this way."

So in the end, it's about making money, not about the games. It's all about the profit for your company, not trying to appease your fans. I understand that this multiplatform allows more gamers access to this game. But I just think that it is a very low thing to say you are going multiplatform when you have been announcing it for exclusivity. You have lied to your fans and justify it with "best decision for the company."

abc123:The reason most of your long time PlayStation fans won't buy this explanation is because there are TWO good exclusives for the XBox 360 (Dead Rising, Lost Planet). If you guys are so dedicated to serving all the fans as you try to claim right now, then this wouldn't be the case.

Either have everything for both platforms or spread out the exclusives. Giving the X360 exclusives AND making the PS3 exclusives multi-platform is the purest definition of lame that there is. Until you guys clean up this mess some kind of way, then absolutely I'm boycotting. We'll show you how "passionate" we are. My money on the real reason DMC4 became multi-plat is that M$ paid up a lot of $$$$ under the table, and you guys don't want to admit it.

nekon: I also agree they should share all titles or none at all.. This was a big blow against the PS3 in it's time of need.. Not to mention the game will now be limited by the 360s lack of disc storage.. This may be a good move for corporate but this like all the current game porting is bad for the consumer in the long run.

I think twice about buying ports for my PS3 because I know developers aren't utilizing the systems power/disc storage and I worry many never will.

DMC4 should be a timed exclusive on the PS3, I think you owe that to your fans. As you've now given the petition more attention by officially commenting on it the signatures will grow, I hope you guys get the message.

As the thread beings to dissolve into personal attacks and Carlos declares himself bored with the fanboys, Sven comes back and locks the thread, leaving this piece of win as the last message:

I'm trying to decide if it's worth keeping this thread open... it seems to have run its course, gone off course, rolled down a cliff, hit a cow and then exploded.

I guess I just answered my own question. Ok, thread closed.

So the wank is over... for now.

ETA: Bonus DMC4-to-Xbox360 miniwank on girl_gamer featuring aegion.
