Happy, shiny wank
Nsync's annual charity event, Challenge for the Children, took place this weekend. JC got sunburned/got hungover and left one of the events after a half hour. Justin didn't show for the 2 big-ticket evening events, for which fans paid $60 and $250 respectively.

Some people cash in their $.02 (and this being only sampling, since any form of Nsync bashing pulls even the most timid lurker out of woodwork.)

A fan voices her disappointment in the form of a sign displayed at the basketball game. Her friend later leaves the poster at Justin's door at his hotel. The story can be found here.

There's an outcry. (again, only examples and I'm more than willing to edit with links to others in all fairness). It's Thursday, and this one still shows some legs.

Have I before mentioned how thankful I am that I am so far out of mainstream music it's not even funny? I haven't? Well, I am.

I never thought I'd say this in this context, but thank God I'm a Shoe Suede Blues fan . . .

I take it they stay away from the fundraising events? ;->

Hell, they started as a fundraising event. But I suppose having an emphasis on the music (and not giving a damn about being mainstream) means the bullshit don't have anywhere to stick. ;)

It's not too bad. I just listen to the music, watch the DVDs, read the porn fanfic, and stay right the fuck away from the crazy, crazy fans.

The Dixie Chicks and the Indigo Girls are the closest to mainstream I get -- I haven't listened to corporate radio in years . . . well, except for the local country station, but they pissed me off for the last time on Saturday so that's it. Other than that I have no fucking clue about what all is popular unless it's forced down my throat. (I had that unpleasant experience with Evanescence. Hello, homicidal rage.)

(I dunno if bluegrass counts as "mainstream," the whole post-O Brother upsurge notwithstanding. All I know is that when I'm stuck in heavy afternoon traffic on the freeway and I roll down my car windows and crank up the fiddle-and-banjo music, it's immense fun to watch cars in adjacent lanes try desperately to move away from me. I did that today. God, was it hysterical.)

That said, I am immensely glad that I stay the hell away from pop music and its scary scary fans.

You know, anyone with common sense would UNDERSTAND that people would be a bit miffed by such actions on behalf of the *Dr. Evil quotesigns, added eyeroll* "band".
... But then, we're talking about N'Sync fans...

You know, despite my feeling that I should be able to have sex with Justin Timberlake, the idea of bothing to know anything about the band just seems silly.

Historical accuracy doesn't make the fan(porn)fic any better.

I can't even be bothered to watch the videos.

wow. i really have no comment on any of that as a result of the fact i don't know who half those people are.

i like skulking in my niche of extreme metal.

I can see that.. but what made this one fun is that the wank came from all sides... as what usually happens whenever Justin is involved.

His one redeeming feature was appearing the boy band episode of The Simpsons.

Justin Timberlake did some stuff, or possible didn't do some stuff, and people were pissed off. As to some insane fruitcake stalker fangirls *NSYNC fans, Justin is the anti-Christ, you can pretty much guarantee that *anything* he does or doesn't do will piss people off. No, there is no logica at all behind his demonisation, beyond that fact that every good story needs a black hat.

The wanks come in the part where some of these mindless drooling cretins *NSYNC fans make abusive placards proclaiming their hatred for Justin, and wave them around where he and other members of *NSYNC can see them. They do this because they're out of their tiny little minds on crack insulting him is the obvious way to get a new *NSYNC album made and to show JC Chasez how utterly scary and insane his fans are much they love him.

Some of it. Although after a while I just skimmed for the keywords like 'Justin', 'JC' and 'placard'. Somehow, you don't need to read much of this stuff before it all starts to look really, really samey.

Although I thought leaving the sign in the corridor near his fucking *room* was a particularly classy touch. Talk about paddling in the shallow end of the gene pool. Makes me want to tear the sticks off the signs and shove them right up their clenched-tight-in-righteous-indignation little arseholes. Then shove the rest of the sign up there too. Sideways.
