Whoever did this should be bitchslapped with a crowbar and forced to live in a cardboard box, with nothing but cat food for dinner for a long, long time.

The situation is totally fucked up, and I feel very bad for this woman.

But ... not to sound callous, but this is what happens when you put your personal information on the internet. You can't expect that every random person who reads your fics and LJ has the same morals and ethics that you do. This is why a lot of people are very careful about revealing themselves online.

Trusting yourself to the kindness of strangers in a community as big as the internet never struck me as the wisest thing to do.

Anyway, it's terrible that she lost her job because of this, but unfortunately people really can be *that* vindictive.
