Supernatural Casting Wank
Someone on my flist wondered why this wasn't here already. I was forced to concur.


Breaking news in SPN fandom (which I avoid like it's a rabid piranha, so I may not be totally up on the goings-on) is that they're casting two sooper-sexy chick hunter regulars for the third season (...that's chicks that hunt, not hunters of chicks because that's what Dean's for). We all know what that means: fandom goes apeshit.

dairwendan decides this warrants a fandom intervention.

Right now, pretty much all over the 'net, Supernatural fans are freaking out about the third season spoiler. That's cool, especially as we know that Kripke & Co. do peruse certain boards and LJ communities. But it's not enough. Even if TPTB at CW also peruse the same boards and LJs, they can easily brush it off as 'just the internet geeks, that's not the whole fandom'. We gotta get mailing folks, just like we did to GET this third season, now we gotta do it to SAVE this third season. (emphasis added)

We must mailbomb this village to save it?

Folks dogpile her in the comments (three pages so far), calling her on how pissing off the network is perhaps not the stunningly brilliantest plan ever. Dairwendan politely but steadfastly refuses to Get It. I love the smell of entitlewank in the late evening.

So one of the actresses is cast, and then there's this, yoinked from wank_report (thanks Jo, CPed from her comment):

So, casting spoilers go onto supernatural_tv on livejournal. The ensuing wank follows with the usual thumbs up, thumbs down, don't care, will wait it out reactions on the actress. Followed by numerous "OH NO! BLONDE!" comments and general bitchery. Not much to report.

Aaaaaaaaaaand then saerie decides to start some shit! Whoooo!

She makes a comment about the poor actress having to deal with psycho fans now. True, but the psycho comment obviously rubs the wrong way. What follows is the tasty wank.

She gets agreement and applause, and even this:

"Amen! *Claps* I couldn't have said it better myself. Especially with the Wincest ;) Rock on!

And your right this is the worst Fandom I have seen, not even this Smallville fandom is that bad.."

Really? Worse than Smallville? Oook...

Plus:

"The fannish entitlement in THIS fandom in particular is the worst I've ever seen"

and more lamenting about perceived Misogyny. "And what kind of misogynistic bullshit is that anyway? Ugh."

Others come out to rabidly defend against it, some try to "reason" with them, but it is too late. It has turned into, yes folks, a Wincest wank! Wheeeeeeee!

Sorry 'bout that. I've had a really bad week and with moving this weekend while I'm still not completely over bronchitis that has been lingering and not letting go for almost 6 weeks... There's much lamenting over "ZOMG THESE PEOPLE ARE CRAZY" and others saying "What did you expect? This is fandom! RAR!"
Plus the ever spiraling arguments of "you're sexist and just don't want them getting in the way of your pairing" and "Am not. You're an idiot and just want to live through a Sue character."

May die down before it gets officially interesting, but it has the potential for growth.
