Yes, Virginia, there is a Potterdammerung: there's just been so much of it scattered all over the place that it's hard to get posts together.
I shall try.
So, in case you didn't hear, Snape ded from snake in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The book has an entire chapter devoted to exploring Snape's motivation in the series -- it is revealed that He Did It All For Love, forever elevating him from Potential Woobie to Woobier than Lex Luthor, For Whom the Term Was Invented. As expected, this has caused an explosion of wank among Snapefen -- we have petitions by the Brides of Snape for a state funeral worthy of the Pope, revisionist fanfics, fappy articles complaining that the series should have been called Severus Snape, the Woobie of Joy (because 10-year-olds would have loved reading about Snape for seven books), cheesy Snily (Snape/Lily) fanart, Harry and James Potter hate, and my personal favorite: J.K. Rowling doesn't understand Snape. You know, even though she invented him.
What a piece of work is man Snape.
