Strikethrough Two: Electric Boogaloo
Fanartists [info]ponderosa121 and [info]elaboration have been permanently suspended from LiveJournal. As far as I can tell, there's no word from [info]elaboration yet, but [info]ponderosa121 received this email from the LJ Abuse team. Update: [info]elaboration received an identically-worded notice.

The innocence_jihad post, with links and suggestions to protest in the comments over at lj_biz and lj_news. And fandom takes up the invitation to troll/spam/comment. With glee.

Fandom_tossed on greatestjournal keeps track of the most recent batch of TOSsing.

Metafandom collects fandom's reactions. Fandom is justifiably upset.

The wank's all coming from LJ/6A this time around, folks. Update: This statement is no longer true, if it ever was true in the first place. It doesn't change the fact that the 6A team has a lot of 'splainin to do, though.

(I'm sorry that this report's lacking in teh_funny, but LJ's most recent dickishness deserves documentation. Hey, that alliterates.)

I love LJ's timing. Strikethrough was about a month before my primary paid account ran out, and right before I was thinking about buying a permanent account. This (Boldthrough or TerminallyStupidGate or whatever it will be called) is five days before my second paid account runs out.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster is obviously watching out for me.

I'm sorry, I must ask. Ponderosa121 drew chan and bestialitychan (that's how I understood it), and people are angry that she got banned? Am I the only one who's not surprised she was banned? I kinda understand LJ/6A covering their asses when it comes to chan.

Ya know, I can see if they deleted the post or removed the picture if it was in the LJ "scrapbook". That would make sense. It still would've pissed people off, but it's much better than suspending people.

The trick is to FLock everything. Or put everything on another site and make a link to it. They've already got things in place that say they can't be responsible for links that go outside of LJ.

Funny, I was just saying that there should have been a F_W post about this.

What gets me the most about the whole thing is how much it's like the first Strikethrough, only with more focus. The bit where the deleted people can't create new journals tells me that 6A learned from the last event...but in the wrong way.

Okay, I get that images of minors engaging in sex can/does fall under a different stipulation than textual descriptions of the same act.

But didn't LJ promise to warn people when inappropriate content was found?

Although I'm not recalling if there was ever any specific discussions about art in all of the post-strikethrough debacle. I think we were all too worried about our fic (since comms like pornish_pixies are primarily fic, though art is there as well) to bring up art specifically. Would their answers have been different? Or is LJ so incompetent at the law that they just "missed" the laws the synecdochic cited until after everyone was done talking about strikethrough?

Oh, and choosing to bold names now rather than the strikethrough? Fucking priceless.

Seeing the same problem here as in the HP racism one: Awful, awful lot of people who think "fandom" equals "fanfic writing and/or fanart," and that "fandom" is a single monolithic entry that can or does speak with a unified majority voice. Neither are true.

Don't know if anyone linked to it yet, but there was a post in pornish_pixies that said this:

From what I've heard so far, these two journals were reported by the WB for trademark violations. I don't have this confirmed at the moment, however.

I'm laughing too hard to find confirmation. Anyone?
