I never quite understood Nano either, to be honest, but this is a dude who seriously needs to calm down.

I lost respect for this dude when I checked his userinfo and saw that, according to this, he writes "fiction novels."

As long as we're defining who is and isn't a writer: anyone who calls it a goddamn "fiction novel" without realizing the redundancy of the phrase is not a writer, even if they've written fifty bestsellers and found a place in the English-language canon. Come on!

(Also, okay, 50k is technically a novella, but 100k isn't enough for a Real Novel now, either? Was this dude weaned on Russian epics and long-winded science-fiction trilogies?)

Holy crap! Did NaNoWriMo kill his puppy or something? I wouldn't even think someone could hate it that much. It's... kind of scary, actually. I'd hate to see what kind of anger he could stir up for something actually worth hating.

He's just sore that people can bang out in a month the kind of tortured, urple crap that he needs to let out a vein every night for YEARS to write. Ten to 1 he's got enough rejection slips to wallpaper the White House and is probably a professional workshopper/writing grouper to boot. (Reminds me of the leader of the RL writing group I used to go to. An absolutely atrocious fantasy writer who used to NaNo like mad until she paid to go to Odyssey and got beat at the NaNo game by a fanficcer, now she thinks she's just too good for "writing crap". Calls herself a "professional writer and game designer" because she once playtested a game that was never published.)

Doesn't someone do this every single damn year? There's always one srs writer who needs to tell us his/her thought on yaoi NaNo. Chances are you've either never heard of them, or heard of them for reasons having nothing to do with their novel writing--I know who this guy is because I like his webcomic.
