Super Mario Galaxy sucks! This message brought to you by Sony This week, entertainment industry magazine Variety reviewed Super Mario Galaxy, probably this year's most highly anticipated Nintendo Wii game. The review contains statements that seem designed to stoke the fires of hardcore Ninty fanboys everywhere, such as: As good as the game is, though, it’s evidence of how bad the Wii is for third person action games, a problem first made clear in last year’s “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.” Holding the nunchuk, which moves Mario, and the Wii-mote, which makes him jump and spin, in separate hands, is an awkward arrangement. Statements like these would invite vitriol on their own, but there was also a noticable "Sponsored by Sony" ad at the top of the page (note: it's not there any more). That and the review ending on the note that Mario's graphics are inferior to the latest Rachet and Clank game (a PS3 exclusive) smells more than a bit suspicious to many of the commenters: Wow, what an excellent and accurate review of the Nintendo Wii Game Supermario Galaxy! I cannot believe I considered buying this console for such a horrible game. Now I can continue saving up for a PS3, Thanks! THIS COMMENT WAS SPONSERED BY SONY ENTERTAINMENT I find it amazing to finally see an article that has complete truth behind it... Oh wait, this article is actually a complete humiliation to the title of journalism and everything it encompasses. Come on Fritz, you screwed up!! Not only did you give an unfair review, but you left trail marks back from you to sony. You ever praised sony in your ARTICLE about a Nintendo game!! When does sony have anything to do with Mario or Nintendo. At least praise Microsoft for the 360 while your at it. Oh wait, they didn't pay you. I understand you also don't the hand-eye coordination for the Wii controls, but that doesn't make this a bad game, it only means you can write a biased article for a corruptive, money grubbing, super electronic corporation (not a gaming company). Good job, two thumbs up for your complete lack of professionalism. This is just proof positive that Sony is the worst company in the world. They have absolutely no concept of professional courtesy and are so overwhelmed by the complete failure of their PoS PS3 that they have to stoop to paying off reviewers to bash the best game of the year and probably this decade. Sony will never get another dime out of me... Funny how my comment never made it up and the big "SPONSORED BY SONY" sticker at the top is now gone. Weird! Again, you should be ashamed... not only for posting false reviews to advertise for sony, but for trying to censor people and cover it up too. As an added bonus, the Kotaku and Joystiq threads about the review have some wank (and teal deer) as well, but the best bits seem to be in the Variety comments. ETA - Somewhat related: Variety posts a news article about the upcoming Ghostbusters game. Included in this piece is the revelation that the Wii, DS, and PS2 versions will be more family oriented, while the PC, 360, and PS3 ones will be targeted towards hardcores. From the Go Nintendo thread's comments: I wouldn’t take anything read in Variety with any more value than what I read in supermarket tabloids. And: Didn’t we learn not to trust Variety earlier today/yesterday when they reviewed Super Mario Galaxy? I would take this information with a grain of salt, just to be sure.
