RDR lawyers up
Previously on the Thirty Days' Wank: RDR Books will not ever, ever stop updating its site.

Today: RDR Books updates its site. Again. Some more.

ABOUT OUR LEGAL TEAM

RDR Books is represented in this case by a distinguished team including New York trial counsel David Hammer, a former federal prosecutor, Robert Handelsman, an experienced Chicago appellate lawyer as co-counsel and Liz Hasse, a nationally respected Intellectual Property lawyer from San Francisco as consultant. We also appreciate the important preliminary work done on this case by Craig Monette.

Also, re: the December 5 SVA/RDR "opportunity to discuss 'the David and Goliath legal battle that this case entails'" at GVSU, word on the street is that 1) GVSU may be misrepresenting the purpose of the forum (i.e., that it's not to discuss the case) and 2) it may be canceled.

Adding to that, here is a post from the Leaky Lounge by someone who also attended, with a follow-up here.

Another attendee posts here.

Also, a YouTube video from the event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4m2hG7SbE0

Well, that confirms it. There is no original content in the book. I don't think they have a snowball's chance - not that I ever did - it's just confirmed now.

I can't believe they cited libraries. There is a huge difference between a library purchasing copies of books and letting people check them out for a specified period of time for free and a person compiling what is essentially a list of facts from a book and trying to sell it for a profit. Hell, Jo has publicly stated more than once if someone couldn't afford to buy the books, they should check them out from a library. They just keep making stupid arguments.

I'm not sure what to think about Steve at the moment. Maybe he is not tech savvy enough to have come up with the idea of creating a free PDF file for download on his own, but there are a lot of people involved with the Lexicon website and I find it hard to believe that none of them would have suggested that when he decided to do a print version for fans. The fact that he even went to a publisher in the first place looks bad. At this point, it's just hard to believe that making a profit off this wasn't his goal all along.
