RESPECT! (spn wank)
Most of these links came from the many diligent wank_report mousies; I have merely compiled (and maybe editorialized a little).

dodger_winslow makes some icons:

As many of y'all know, me and many of my closest LJ friends have been utterly appalled and deeply outraged at what we see as a growing trend of disrespect for Jensen and Jared as people in the very fandom that professes to adore them for being the genuinely good and generous guys they are.
Some people make responses along the lines of "Chill the fuck out, I can make fun of celebrities all I want and guess what? It won't actually hurt them in any way."

Like affectingly:
Hey, don't appreciate my loving mockery of Jensen Ackles? That's fine. I don't expect everyone to participate in that or to think that's a fun way to express one's love of something. I'm a sarcastic bitch and I'll be the first to admit that. But you don't get to label me or the people who DO think it's funny as bad fans without looking like a complete asshole yourself.
alazysod posts some response icons with text such as "Because this is polite stalking" and "Because nobody likes a Fatty!Jensen"
Among others, ladymirth takes offense and calls alazysod "a jerk with an entitlement complex who just can't WAIT to mock people for having ethics." Comments were deleted in that thread EDIT: alazysod to the rescue! part one and two.

Supposedly (although dodger-winslow has since denied it) this whole thing started as a result of jubjubfest, a community/ficathon "dedicated in loving support of Jensen Ackles and his tendency to be a little soft around the edges." As far as I can tell, this community makes people angry for a couple of reasons: 1. Jensen Ackles is SO NOT FAT OMG. 2. It is a bad idea to fetishize overweight!!! 3. If Jensen found out people were fantasizing about him being chubby, he would be devastated. Or something. It is unclear whether or not anyone thinks that Jensen feels particularly respected by the fact that people write stories about him taking it up the ass from his costar, so long as they do not portray him as fat while doing so.
So anyway, then came the defriendings!
apieceofcake explains why she defriended jelloh0530:
So yes I defriended her ,and her being too much of a Drama Queen for me is the reason I gave. Whilst it may not have been very nice, I am gonna stick by it. It's something I even call one of my girls..because she is..LOL!
smidgy06 responds to being defriended
But seriously, I believe he's gay and I'm not going to make any apologies for this because then it'd appear that I was saying that being gay was wrong and that statement would be stupid and ridiculous.
But wait! Apparently it was not Fat!Jensen that started it all, but "a single, egregious act of inexcusable (from my perspective, at least) disrespect to ... Jared." (Lots of tl;dr in the post and the comments) d-w will not say what this act was, because she does not feel like "opening [herself] up to wank."

winterlive also has some stuff to say about this situation:
"there are fen who don't respect jared and jensen's basic humanity, and that is awful in every concievable way."

"and the end result is a certain select few people standing in the town square, wearing clown costumes and fervently jerking off onto a copy of the season 2 DVDs (aka: the "cool" kids). those left standing around in horrified silence are trying so hard to be polite and fit in that they won't even say, hey, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING for fear that, if they speak up, they shall be drummed out of fandomtown forevers."

"and i kind of think, in my deep and secret places, that that sort of thing is gross and retarded and best enjoyed by howler monkeys."
That last one was in response to this icon, which was created (as a joke, in case you hadn't guessed) in response to earlier SPN wanks regarding J. Ackles' flaws as an actor and human being, and has since been used "out of context" throughout this wank.

Ok, that's all I got. Anything I missed?

EDIT: In addition to the response icons mocking the original icons, there was also cran's post of icons pointing out the hypocrisy of requesting respect for the actors, when many of said respect-requesters are filled with hate-fueled glee when one of the female actors does something dumb.

EDIT again: traveller also has some stuff to say about the dangers of Fat!Jensen. And how mocking celebrities is like rape.

[info]traveller thinks that she put on that skirt, she had it coming. Also, she was raped and it is not offensive to her, so it must not be offensive to ANYONE.

Traveller has a tendency to reference her history of being sexually assaulted as some sort of legitimization of her opinions.

In the last wank that I saw her involved in (full disclosure: also involving me), she took issue with an uderagedHarry/Snape illustration and in the course of a series of exchanges, pointed out that she had been sexually assaulted while she was a minor, by an adult, in an effort to manipulate the discussion in her favor.

So, it seems to go both ways. When she's offended, the thing is offensive. When she's not offended, the thing is irrelevant.

Yeah, I've run across her before in context like this. It kinda makes me go o.O more than most of this wank, which, you know, says something.

ugh. I love when women like Traveller lecture other women about RAPE and what it means to be a VICTIM. It's like, fuck you, dude. 1 of 3 women CAN RELATE. Doubt you need to LECTURE THEM.

From what I've personally experienced, she doesn't seem to resort to lecturing people about what it's Really Like To Be A Victim -- although she could certainly be saying that and I just haven't seen it. In that previous wank, I got more of a sense that she was using her history as a trump card. She found something offensive and I didn't, but because she had been sexually assaulted, her sense of offense should be given greater recognition.

Which is why when I read that one of her arguments in the present wank was that her rape allowed her to deem what should be unoffensive to others, it pinged me. Evidently, her expertise is all inclusive.

Exactly! That's what I mean. It seems to imply, if *you* had experienced what she had or was sympathetic to victims, *you'd* agree with her, obviously. Which...ugnnn. I don't want to piss anyone off, but wtf-EVER.

Also, I am forever weirded out by people who are just "We are having a minor argument about something that has nothing to do with rape BUUUT-" like, REALLY? I mean, I AGREE that it's REALLY A GOOD IDEA to be honest and open about your experiences, sure. But like, WHAT?! Is THAT where you lay down your LIFE STORY? In an argument about fat celebrities?? Isn't that sort of DEMEANING the SERIOUSNESS of sexual abuse, be comparing it off-handedly to mocking celebrity?

I'm just confused, man. Also, good on you for pointing this out. I'm sure most people see RAPE and feel like they'll get smacked DOWN if they disagree at ALL.

I feel like there must be a Godwin's/Snacky's Law for cases where the, "Well, I was raped, so I'm right," argument gets pulled out.

The only way to counter would be to combine both laws, I guess. FINE. I was raped by Nazi cheerleaders, so I win.

Traveller has a tendency to reference her history of being sexually assaulted as some sort of legitimization of her opinions.

When I talk about shit and I have personal experiences that lend to some understanding of a particular position, I reference it. If I'm talking to someone about violent crime and I've been mugged, I might mention it as hey, it actually does lend a bit of legitimization to my words as I'm not just quoting statistics out of a textbook. But of course, because it's rape, she's must be a dramatic trumpcard pulling bitch. Some people aren't ashamed or hesitant about mentioning or discussing sexual assault, but because we're so conditioned to believe that real victims never talk about it, that when people do, we automatically assume that there's some nefarious agenda to it - that they're trying to garner sympathy or tell other people how to act.

I don't see how mentioning it ONCE before in a discussion about art depicting what could be construed by some as child rape gives her a "history" and automatically makes her a trump card puller. I distinctly remember reading that discussion and she never said that her sense of offence should be given greater recognition, rather that your interpretation of a ideological utopian paradise was unrealistic and that this stuff DOES happen, whether or not people choose to recognize it, that basing a discussion in a world that doesn't exist in reality is pointless.

The second time was someone insinuating that her earlier comment was demeaning to rape victims, and she was pointing out that she had been one. Not saying, "hey, no one will find this offensive," but rather that as a member of the group that the other commenter said would be offended by her comment, she herself didn't see the offensiveness of it.

Either way, I find the insinuation that because she's discussed her sexual assault more than once means she's trying pull out some trump card to win an argument on the internet really repugnant. It reinforces the ridiculous notion that if you discuss your sexual assualt, you're somehow trying to be emotional manipulative. As far as I can see, she's mentioned it twice, both in comments that deal with rape as a topic, not, "oh, you're wrong! Jensen looks sad, I should know, I was raped!" I could talk about my own experiences, but I wouldn't want to be accused of playing a trump card or anything.
