Oh, there's no MISOGYNY in fandom (137, 812th verse, same as the first)
Well, once again, we have someone in Supernatural fandom who would like to instruct us on How to Be Featured On fandom_wank in 10 Easy Steps!
Meet huntress69. She will be conducting today's lesson.
1) Don't just hate characters! Share your desire to have them beaten and killed in fic with your closest fandom friends!
2) Flip the fuck out over a relatively innocent comment.
3) Make it clear that #1 is not a fit of temporary insanity.
4) Get your friends to support you in your in crazy crazy world. WE ARE ENTITLED TO OUR OPINIONS BUT YOU CAN'T HAVE OPINIONS ABOUT THOSE OPINIONS SO STFU OR I'LL BEAT YOU DOWN LIKE SOMEONE SHOULD BEAT CASSIE!
5) Take the advice of a friend (and Dr. Seuss [who fully supported smacking the bitches down and making them pay for the sin of hurting Dean Winchester's feelings, really]) to not pay attention to people who don't like things you say.
6) Show how much you don't care by making two posts on the topic.
7) Start commenting (many many many times) in your critic's LJ to prove how not-creepy and sane you are! Do this by referencing:
- how old you are
- what a BNF you are with a devoted legion of fans to prove it (and mock all these other people you've never heard of as nobodies in the fanfiction world)
- how long you've been in fandom
- how smart you are because you listen to music on your iPod (show of hands: who knows who Vivaldi is?)
- how other people like stuff that is worse than what you like (rapefic! deathfic! incestfic! - beating the shit out of a woman and hopefully killing her is NOTHING compared to that)
- your HAPPY ENDING ONLY fic (including gang-rape! always happy!)
- the IQ of your children to prove how smart you are, while whining about people using big words (let me guess: the Mighty Huntress doesn't like OTW either :D). Do not forget to get offended when someone references the child you brought into the conversation!
- how anyone who criticizes you has no life off the internet (yeah! Lives are reserved for people who want to read about beating/drowning/maiming/killing another woman for the crime of smooching a Winchester boy)
- demand that everyone involved be exactly like you or they are not allowed to have an opinion.
In short, bring up completely irrelevant points to prove how right right RIGHT you are!
ETA: Do not forget to break my law, while the lurkers support you in email and to discuss how hard big words like misogyny are, while threatening to sic your Jeopardy-playing son (boyfriend? man in life?) on the meanies!
8) Ignore comments that make any kind of sense. Obviously it can't make that much sense, since Shoi has neglected to give her entire fandom resume, her age, her marital status, the IQ of her children, and what her musical preferences are.
